Hi everyone I am the son of an ex-pat Latvian who settled in the UK after WW2. My interest is specific to his war - conscripted into the Latvian Legion (15th Waffen Grenadier division of the SS) age 17/18 he ended up in Hamburg in a DP camp thence to the UK. I am looking for resources to find out where he fought and eventually surrendered. Sadly my father died in 1981 and (understandingly) never talked about his war experiences other than my boyhood curiosity about his scars and frostbite damage! Any pointers to resources would be gratefully received. Ian Zirins Burnley UK

Hi Ian, try and get his details from the Red Cross regarding his POW time. Think the next window to apply is after the new year Requests for information about people held during the Spanish Civil War or the Second World War: Quarterly limit reached
