Hey folks, Im 20 years old and from Braunschweig from germany. Im much interested in history of ww2 especially when it have something to do with Braunschweig. When I play games in my free time its always about ww2 . I hope I can learn here some new stuff and more about special events taken part in ww2. In my family history my great-grandfather had served before the war voluntarily in the SA and then in ww2 as an pioneer in the Wehrmacht. I dont know much about his time in ww2. I only have a alot of unsorted documents and pictures because my mother and uncle decided to throw all his stuff away after he passed away in the end of the 80s (uniforms and other stuff with clues on his nazi past). Trying to forget about his activities in the era. To late but after my grandfather died two years ago I got more interest in the history of my family in this era. since then I collecting and sorting documents and doing some research. Now I work on a 3D project for a mod. I want to modelling some little objects (now some lamps but searching still for some pics) to learn more about the process in modelling. So this would be the first topic but I dont know where I should write this in this forum. Thats about me , regards JeckZeRippa
Welcome to the Forums! There is no shortage of knowledge here! Very interesting about your grandpa.....I have to ask, and you may not know, but was he truly a Nazi, as in he was a member of the party? If he was not involved in any concentration camps, or other atrocities, than I want to thank him for his service in fighting for his country and family.
Welcome! You say you play games, how about the new game, “Call of Duty World War II,” is it available over there? I don’t know anything about it but have seen it advertised on tv a lot and the grandkids want it for Christmas. I personally never got involved with any Xbox or play Station 2 etc.
Hey JJWilson, thank you for your answer. Unfortunately I must dissapoint you. Im not sure but i think that he was a bit fanatic, because in the end of the war 45, he wanted to swim with his unit over the "Elbe" to fight in Berlin... A story from my great-grandma, but she doesnt let him go, because he was wounded two times. One time getting shot by an mg. And another time when one of his comrades stepped on a mine. I bet that he knew the war crimes, because they were omnipresent. Especially in warsaw and the region. I have a adress where he was living and working in Schrötersburg during the war (today Plock, directly near warsaw). Where he exactly was during his time in Poland, Norway and denmark is not known exactly. But I think I get the informations I want from here Assets | Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt) A officialy authority where you can get information about former Wehrmacht soldiers from your family and other stuff. When I have the informations i will make a new thread. I think its interesting enough to share it then. And a bit more sorted regards JeckZeRippa
