    Hello everyone,

My name is Rolando Im researching G Co. 2nd BN, 475th IN. My uncle PFC Clarence Nunez served with them in Burma and was KIA 21 Jan 1945. My mother never received information about my uncle's service or death so I'm hopping you all can help me fill a void. I'm hopping you all will share information and photos that I can share with my mother. Thank you.
    Rolando

Don't help much, but I found these. I think they are for your uncle.

As a Retired Airborne Infantryman who has deployed a few times myself I find this fascinating. I have the bronze star ,CIB, and purple heart I hope to find order or something for my uncle.

Do you have any paperwork for him? If you do and can post it, it would be of great help.

Welcome to the Forums, Rolando. I highly recommend that you get a copy of PFC Nunez's Individual Deceased Personnel File (IDPF). You can either request it yourself, or you can hire a researcher to obtain it for you. Doing it yourself means it will likely be free, but will take up to a year to get. If you hire a researcher, it will obviously not be free, but you will have the IDPF in a matter of a few weeks. Read the above thread on the subject completely as the procedure for requesting and IDPF has changed from the original post.

In a news paper clipping referencing SSG Stacy A Ellis dated 16 July 1945, it states "After Myitkyina the Marauders were disband and our regiment was reorganized into the 475th Infantry. Than we became a part of the Mars task Force". Based on this and an additional artical I read about my uncles funeral saying he fought at Myitkyina, I think he was a member of Merrills Marauders.

These are great finds. Your uncle was a hero. That said, I'll echo Tommy in requesting his IDPF. It may answer some of your questions.
