    You don't debate those people. You address the issues they bring up like you were reading a newspaper and talking to a friend.

    "Self proclaimed academic historian"? I'm a self proclaimed gymnast, but that doesn't mean I can do anything. He's a poseur and full time moron. It's no sense arguing with him since he claims to know things that trained historians do not. Are they all in league to keep knowledge from the rest of us?

    I gave his profile a cursory scan and rate him a lowly 14/88. A terrible score for those attempting to research history with any accuracy.

    I don't debate Flat-Earth proponents either. He's not worth the effort.

    The reason I still respond to things posted by Pearl Harbor conspiracy advocates is to give the fence-sitters more information, the parts the CAs leave out or just fake.

    My lead prof at Purdue said it's like having a high school class with one jibbering idiot in it. You can't cancel class and you can't leave the rest of the class with bad information. Then he said "Teaching's not for everybody."

    That comes under the heading of "causing damage" IMO. Where to draw the line is an open question at times. After all there were people that believed (and may still be some that believe) Velikovsky. But I've found that when one is correcting the misconceptions of such people doing so in a way the makes fun of their position is more effective that taking them seriouisly.

    I don't address them, I address the charges they make. My take on CAs is I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on them if they were on fire.
