I'm working on changing the default view of the forums on the homepage. The previous display was a little too compressed, hiding most forums and sub-forums beneath the headers. The new configuration allows visitors to see a greater number of sub-forums, and hopefully see more of the activity that is taking place on the site.

This is a work in progress so your patience is appreciated, and your feedback is useful.

Looks good. Easier access for new visitors and better information for frequent visirors. I'm viewing on my phone right now and it's nice to see what has been done. One change I hope to see is a Recent Posts button for phones. Right now it isn't visible. Not a big deal, but something for the back burner (like you don't have enough there ).

Didn't notice it until I saw this thread (but when I log in I click straight on NEW POSTS anyways).

My one complaint right now is all the giant green NEW markers attached to the end of every single subforum etc. Makes it really cluttered looking!

Thanks for the comments. I prefer the new layout also, and I agree that the "NEW" icons shotgunned all over the site look odd. I'll leave it for now, as I await more feedback.

We have two major changes in the works coming. A move to XenForo 2, and the import of all WorldWarTwoZone.com content. We still have to properly digest the other recent forum imports, and the 200,000+ posts from WW2Zone will only add to that, but I'm grateful we are preserving this content.

I like the layout better. Will hold reservations on the NEW markers.

"Recent Posts" for cell phones would be great. They won't let me have a regular computer under the tent.

Appreciate the feedback, it is always helpful.

The main improvement of XenForo 2 over the first version in that it has a much better mobile interface. I'm going to let the software solve this problem naturally.

I think the headers would look better in bold type. Easier for us with a few years under our belts to see. I agree on the "NEW" after each title, don't really see/understand the need. Other than that I like the set-up and I think it looks clean.

Unfortunately we are going to live with the blaring "new" icons for the time being, but their stay will be short lived.

I like it. Usually go to new posts first so when I looked at the forum home page no "New" icons.

Now I'm probably in the lower percentile of computer literate personnel but guess what I just found! If you mark " All Forums Read" those NEW green boxes disappear. I'm guessing the next time someone posts a NEW shows which forum we've got recent activity. Your Welcome. :D

Next we need a LePage Glue Gun for anti-spammer work.
Well, first you have to sacrifice a chicken, but yeah, after that you got it.

It was strictly by accident. I remembered R Leonard has a signature of " wonder what this button does" and figured the worst I could do was break the internet. Which I've been accused of on more than one occasion.

There was a skit on the radio when I was a kid. Two guys trying to make something happen. They were reduced to pushing button randomly while being shouted out at on the PA for being behind everybody else. Finally there a cacophony of beeps followed by "LAUNCH!". The voice on the PA says, "Doesn't matter, your silo is empty so you're out of a job anyway.
