Hi everyone, I'm James. I came across this website whilst researching my granddad's time in the army. He signed up in 1938 and stayed in until 1950. He spent his entire wartime in India. Recently, I've received his army service records which I thought would answer all of my questions. As you can imagine, it only gave me more questions! Which is how I stumbled across this site. I look forward to interacting with you and hopefully, you learned folk will be able to help me discover information about my grandfathers time during WWII. Thanks J.
Welcome aboard. Sorry I can't help much on your request other than to mention our sister forum ww2 talk may be of help as well as they tend to concentrate on Commonwealth matters. If you get info elsewhere pls do mention what you find here and where you found it. It's surprising how often one person search for family history is of use and interest to others.
Thank you for the recommendation and the tip re: your sister site. I'll visit there too. I'll be sure to post any information here. Thanks again J.
Glad to have you here James. Lwd's recommendation to visit our sister site is a good one. That being said, we have some British members here who may be able to help. Post your questions on both sites and I'm sure they will be answered.
Welcome to the site James. I'll throw another vote for WW2Talk.com, the admin team there is great, and the content more Commonwealth based. Don't feel obligated to double up on both sites, it might even serve you better to concentrate on one site rather than both. Although the two sites are run by different teams, both sites are owned by the same person, so there is no sense of competition between the two.
