Hey guys, Thought I'd share my newest purchase! It's a byf 41, all matching numbers P.08 Luger. This pistol is beautiful!
Thanks! I really did luck out with this one. I had to clean it after picking it up yesterday. There wasn't much upkeep on it by who owned it last.... I don't know why someone wouldn't make sure to keep something like this in the best shape possible, but it cleaned up great!
A very, very nice piece. I hope to have one of my own one day, but I hope to have a lot of WWII weapons one day.
So many great weapons to choose from.... In the past 4 months, I bought a K98k, M1 Garand and this Luger........ I have a problem...... lol
Veeery interesting-but nice! I also have a "byf" 41 luger, also in excellent shape. Also have the GI bring back papers. My serial # had a "A" suffix while yours has a "Y". After every 9999 pistols they added another letter in alpha order. Since these were both made in 1941 it gives you an idea of how many of these things the folks in Obendorf were pooping out! Any one with a bunch of fine firearms can't have too much in the way of problems!
Very cool! So yours would have a magazine with matching serial numbers? The byf 41's stopped the matching serials for the mags around the "U" block. After that, they sub contracted them and were marked fxo such as mine.
It appears to have lint on it, which means it's no longer in shooting condition and will cost about four thousand dollars to repair. Also, it might explode at any moment and kill a nearby toddler. I'm prepared to offer you thirty dollars for the gun, just because I feel sorry for you. PM me if you wish to accept my generous offer. .
I will up Keith's fine offer to $35.00, US or Confederate. That is a nice example! I had a fine one as well but had to sell it to pay tuition. in 1958. People do crazy things for money!
Don't listen to them Zep! They're trying to scam you! It's worth at least $60 (and I'm sure you didn't pay more than $50 for it) so tell you what I'll do: I'll give you $65 for it and that'll give you a nice profit. Now, now, you don't have to thank me-glad to do a nice young fellow like you a favor.
Don't know where you guys are getting your prices from, it's worth about 5 million dollars! This is the Luger Hitler used to shoot himself!
Yeah, but he was trying to shoot Magda Goebbels and it malfunctioned. I'm trying to save you from a similar tragedy. .
As a world-renowned expert in Lugers Hitler Used to Shoot Himself, I can say that not only does KodiakBeer grasp the scope of the situation, but he is also entirely correct. That being said $5M is an outrageous price. I will offer $103.57 USD (quote valid for 30 minutes, due to USD-CAD exchange rate flucuations) to take that menace off of your hands. It will be safely disposed of into my safe dedicated to my collection of Lugers Hitler Used to Shoot Himself.
Lol! Hitler used more than one Luger to shoot himself? Wow, did he just keep missing or was he hard to kill?
I certainly can't compete with $103.57 for one of the two dozen Lugers Hitler Used to Shoot Himself. Now if you come across any of the Walthers Hitler Used to Shoot Himself I might go as high as $200, only because there are fewer authenticated examples out on the market. All of these pistols, as you probably know, originate with Martin Bormann who spent an entire afternoon shooting the dead Hitler in the head, while Keitel filled out the authentication forms for the numbered pistols. At least, that's the story I got from the guy that sold me the Nagant Hitler Used to Shoot Himself. It's not known what Hitler actually died from, but Krebs always blamed a bad ersatz vegetarian zungenwurst. .
