Clearly he's enjoying himself far too much on the ski slopes. Thanks A-58! Remember to check the WW2 Forums/Forces Postal Service Map for a look at our growing list of all WW2F/FPS submissions.
I just spent a few minutes on google maps flying through Park City. It looks like a nice place to enjoy some winter. Now that I'm a Texican, I'll have to travel to experience real winter.
Britain only has one more medal than us Gordon...whats going on!? You mob do cold so much better than us...
Well it was a great ski trip guys, if any of you people never went skiing before and are thinking about doing it, well just find a way and work it into the rotation. I'm partial to skiing in Park City, but I've skied in Banff, Canada, Breckenridge, CO, and Anchorage, Alaska (when I was in the Army up there, hated it then). I've also skied here in Baton Rouge, last December when we got about 5 inches of sneaux. I have my own skis and boots, so that makes it easier. Skied the levee at the Mississippi River a few miles from the house. Did about 20 runs before calling it a day. The slopes were getting crowded after awhile, with people sliding down the levee with inner tubes and boogie boards. A couple of dudes tried it with a kayak, but there wasn't enough sneaux for that business.
This is me skiing on the levee near the house back in December. Just figured out how to get the video from my phone, to YouTube, to here. Yay!
I've snow skied in the past, Bobby, but not on real snow. It was in NC and more or less skating down the mountains on ice disguised as snow. Lotta fun though until a little boy wiped out at the bottom, bounced into me and I careened off a teenage girl, sending her into the barrier. Would not have been too bad, except she missed the net and hit the pole that was holding it up. She got an ambulance ride out of it.
Can't say that in all the years I lived in Louisiana I ever remember more than flurries, and that was rare. The snow ya'll got must be a near record for the area. My cousins from down in Baton Rouge, French Settlement and Slidell used to come up here every year and we'd go over to the Smokies and go skiing, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, etc. Beech Mountain
