Hey there! Dunno if I can be of service, but my grandpa was in the 550th AAA (battery C, I think, but I'm not sure). I don't have much, just some bare- bones documents and letters and a few photos. Happy to help if I can
The Eisenhower Archives might have something. hi my dad(he is 95 years old) was in A battery of the 550th AAA. i have his entire itinerary from the day they left the us in 1944 till the end of the war. it lists the names of all the towns and cities they went thru. after march of 1945 they were attached to the newly deployed 89th infantry division. my dad says that all 4 batteries were generally deployed within a few miles of each other so the itinerary i have should also be accurate for D battery. i can send you a copy if you wish, but it would not be until september when i return home-regards bob
Here is the itinerary. Sorry about the delay in providing this but here it is for the 550th AAA Battalion. This shows all their locations from their entry in the war until the end of the war. Bob
You have any other bits of info thats not posted Online? My Grandpa was Ray Dudkowski in I think Battery D. He barely talked about anything. Thanks! Sean Marcum
Hello everyone. First post here. My grandfather was in the 550th from 1943-1946. I'm not sure what company he was in, as he wouldn't talk about the war at all. Basically, only info I have is when he joined and mustered out. Also, he has 5 battle stars. That's all I have. His name is Lyle E. Babcock from New York State. He just recently passed away at 96 years old. Anyone with information would be greatly appreciated. I will even pay for information. What Bob Botta posted is pure gold! Thank you so much Bob! Everyone have a wonderful day.
Hi all, First post, but this info from Bob is a goldmine. Thank you! My grandfather was in Battery D. He also carried around a camera throughout the war. I will upload all the pictures I have. Here is a letter he gave me that was sent to his parents during the war. I am taking my kids, his great grandsons to Normandy after Christmas and trying to retrace his steps. The itinerary is exactly what I've been looking for.
I had no idea I would end up getting all this info when I posted this year's ago. Thank you all for the pics and docs. I have a diary from batt c that I will try and post with some pics in the coming weeks for everyone to take a gander at. Looking forward to talking to all of you.
