150-tonne Japanese Tank. Never heard of it.

They say at least one saw combat in Manchuria against the Soviets. This makes it the heaviest tank ever used in battle. Any info on this? Is it even true? Could it be the O-1 superheavy tank? Wiki says there's is no known image of it. Saw it in (of all places) a white supremacist site.

Look at the photograph again...It is a tank turret on top of a concrete bunker. The turret is similar to any of the later Japanese tanks - Type 3 Chi-Nu, Type 4 Chi-To, or the Type 5 Chi-Ri. The speculation on if this is the turret to the O-I has been going on for years, but AFAIK, no one has given a credible answer.

 

The photograph is a tank turret, as Takao described, of one of the later Japanese tanks that never saw combat due to being stationed at the home islands (Type 3, Type 4, Type 5).

The only surviving piece (or at least claimed to be) is a massive track located in the JGSDF Fuji School in Japan, seen below.


Other than that, the community member who is in charge of the Japanese tanks development in War Thunder has access to archives of Japan. She claims to have seen videos of the tank and the documentation of at least one prototype being active in Manchuria as what the document described as a 'mobile bunker'. However, she says that the videos are held tightly and won't go public for whatever reason.

 

Wow. That might make an interesting home project for a rich Japanese: try to reconstruct an O-1

 

Well, if you make it out of plywood (i.e. just a model) it shouldn't be too expensive.
