Hello everyone, early today at about 8:00 I got my wisdom teeth out. I am not a fan of needles, and being forced to sleep and having people take elements of my mouth out of my body. It went well though, I was out pretty much instantly after they put the medicine in the IV. I woke up, and actually regained total consciousness and awareness rather quickly, and on my way out, I told two nurses they were cute, I was completely awake and aware of that one! :D I came home and fell asleep for a good 3 hours, and I've been a total couch potato to my frustration all day, I'm going to seriously fall behind on my daily workout routine, but thankfully I'm not really eating all that much. My mouth doesn't hurt for now, but that's supposed to change tomorrow I guess. I get to miss work for week, which is a much needed break. My best friend is going to basically live with our family for 3 days, and I've got tons of people stopping by and giving me ice cream, some of whom are of the opposite sex..........so this might not be too bad

All four of mine were pulled with no need for surgery. I never hurt but was careful to chew near the front for a few days. I hope yours do not bother you too much. I have very small teeth though, so that's probably why I breezed through it. Bring on the ice cream girls! Lol

Had mine out in Boot Camp, 1969. Just one more pleasurable event that summer.

Are you guys any less wise now that they are gone? I can not relate as I never developed wisdom teeth.

I had mine taken out 35 years ago. I think the worst part was getting the stiches taken out, plus sucking a cigarette up your nose for a few days was real fun...

Just had 3 of my 4 wisdom teeth removed 2.5 weeks ago. I was very nervous as all you ever hear are stories of how painful it can be, especially the recovery. Let me tell you, I had nothing to fear! I felt some discomfort from time to time, but nothing an Ibuprofen couldn't fix. It's unbelievable how well mine went. I felt so good, I could have went in to work the next day no problem. I didn't want to push it, however, so I stayed in for 3 days living off ice cream, pudding, Jello and bananas.

Best of luck recovering! Hopefully your experience is as painless as mine was!

I've only had my top 2 taken out but under general anesthesia. No stitches either - just gauze up there for the day and jello and soft foods for a few days while it healed. Nothing terribly bad about the entire experience (and had it done twice - one time for each tooth as they presented problems at different times. It is strange having more teeth on the bottom row in the back of my mouth than up top though.

I don't have stitches either, I just had gauze yesterday as well. I've also had nothing but Jello, pudding, and ice cream! I really am not having bad pain, it's sore, but not painful, once I start watching something, or start talking to my friend, I kind of forget about it, So it's not all that bad.

I have had such experience when I was student at college. Due to the fact that my wisdom tooth was deep, when I opened my mouth it was hidden, and the surgeon had to pull it out with almost closed jaws. That's, frankly, it was unpleasant... there was a feeling that a piece of a skull was breaking, and instinctively I wanted to break free. My main benefit was that I don't have to do my homework assignments. In the doctor's office, I entered at 15:05, and from the clinic, taking into account all the formalities, I left at 15:20. From the moment of injecting anesthesia to the exit from the office, 7 minutes passed, no more. However, I even write about this situation in my blog, and the nurse, which escorting me to the hall, admitted that I was lucky - usually, such abnormal teeth are not removed so simply, without additional incisions.

I only had one wisdom tooth taken out. It was badly impacted such that they had to take it out in pieces. Shot me up with enough Novocain that I couldn't move half my tongue for hours afterward ... does odd things to ones voice. Things weren't too bad the next day (I stopped taking any pain pills then) and pretty much ok the day after at least from what I remember it being about 50 years ago.
