I always looked forward to his post--kinda off the wall and interesting. He would have a blast with this thread. Hope he's doing well.
Actually I left the front and back doors open (oo-er!) - Both fly screens closed of course...but the wind was so cool, turned the aircons off as they couldn't offer better cooling...my little dingo curled up on the couch and didn't move for 12 hours...
Heck, we've been able to shoot down satellites since the 80's with our F15's. Jimmy (peanuts) Carter got the ball rolling in 1978. Maj. Wilbert Pearson knock out the Solwind P78-1 satellite with one shot in 1985. Not something I had buried in my head. Just read about it in the new issue of Air and Space magazine. Ronnie Reagan immediately shut down that program and put the funds into chemical weapons research. I'm guessing the boys in blue still have an inkling on how to do it though. I mentioned the doors after watching the local warning in the link about shutting doors and putting yard furniture in your pool to keep them from blowing away. Does everyone down there have a pool in their yard? It was 33F today. That's like 2C ?
Less pools than you might think..."a hole in the ground you throw money into" - But 'dipping pools" are popular...like a spa, only a little bigger...one just sits in it and then gets out. We are still watching the next cyclone/hurricane in our area...the media has been trying to freak everybody out about it since Sunday...Marcus was the strongest cyclone since Tracey...and this new one might be Tracey size...but also may miss us. I really hope it does, working for Power and Water the place has been on emergency footing since the weekend...people on different rosters to help support the lineys and army who are trying to reconnect the power in really muggy conditions...our customers are losing their sh^t with us...but we are going really fast. I live in an area that has underground power, so we didn't lose it at all...
You be like... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
What will they shoot? And with what? <iframe width="640" height="360" src="" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Private Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man? Private Vasquez: No. Have you? I'm amazed they didn't blow the reactor. Oh, wait.
Interestingly I got an email from Poppy yesterday. He said he was going to try posting again but was limited to his phone. My arthritic hands do not type on a phone anymore so certainly understand. Would a tablet work better, I never had one ? Gaines
I use an IPad all the time...easy to type on big letters...you can do a lot design wise on it too...some artists only use IPads these days...don’t get a mini, mines a pro...bit more expensive but worth it.
Watched some commentary from Mattis the other day. We already have several "space forces" divvied up among the Army, Navy and Air Force all going in their own directions. A Space Force wouldn't be a bunch of guys in spacecraft, it would be a bunch of technicians under a unified command directing anti-ICBM missiles and things like that. They are also talking about anti-satellite technology because apparently it is feared that the Chinese (almost certainly) and perhaps the Russians have killer satellites in orbit to knock out western communications satellites should a war come about. Most of you already know that a single nuke detonated above the central US, would knock out all comms in space, and the EMP surge would knock out the power grid for most of North America. Those nuke satellites are either already up there, or could be put up within a few hours by a number of nations. Anyway, explained like that (since we are already spending the money), it would make sense to unify those elements under a single command with a common vision. .
As a student of WWII with an interest in special units, I've have gotten the feeling that by allowing a lot of experimentation by many different branches was one of the keys to winning. Anyway, my name is Wooley and I have TDS.
