Have any of you seen this pop-up? I didn't bother looking into the "U. S. Navy" quiz after I saw the photo of two ships - the Portuguese frigate Vasco da Gama and a German Braunschweig class corvette.....

Damnit, I wanted to take the test. I know my Navy slang, including the NSFW ones.

Me too, spent 3 years in NJROTC in high school back in the 70s. Still remember a little slang the Chief slung at us.

Data set is thirty years out of date, just like the books in the ship's library.

I saw it on the top right of the Home page first time I logged on yesterday. First time I've seen it here, but it's also been on Civil War Talk.

Was this the one? If you do not have a popup blocker, paid ads courtesy of Google will appear at the top of the home page. These often take the form of click-bait "quizzes" on websites which are extremely heavy with other paid advertising. Harmless, but not all that useful.

That's it. At least the illustration in the quiz is American, though out of service - Virginia class CGN - looks like CGI to me!

Yeah I got all of them correct. Guess that 3 years of NJROTC in high school back in the 70s finally paid off. Was a bit let down though. They didn't ask anything about deck apes, the black gang, airdales, walking mattresses, etc....

It's a transmission for an LHA, the original ones. (mumble)00 gallon crankcase. I've had as many as 10 men cleaning one of those from the inside at the same time.
