Ha ha ha. Yes, we Birds fans are not a happy bunch. I was at the home opener this year (Thursday) when they dropped the banner. They played poor the first half and many fans booed. It was a disgusting display considering the team just won the damn Super Bowl. However, the majority of fans were ear to ear smiles (possibly because it was an hour weather delay and we were all many beverages under).

Eagles fans just represent Philadelphia...'nuff said. They're the same people who boo Santa Clause. But I guess if you lived in Philadelphia, you'd be a pretty sour apple too.

Baltimore got spanked by the Bengals. Still too early in the season to draw too many conclusions, but every game does count. I am foreseeing the Jets losing to Miami this weekend, as thats the Jet thing to do.

    Week 4 update!
Well everyone, we are already 1 quarter through the 2018 NFL season, and boy has it been weird! My predictions have already gone to s%$t because of two ties, and my predictions in general look pretty stupid right now, but hey, it's still only week 4. Let's take a deeper look at each team, and the situation in the NFL shall we?

    League Developments
2018 has gotten off to a very strange start. Two ties in the first two weeks (that's never happened), and the roughing the passer penalty is the equivalent of the catch rule, aka something that pisses everyone off, especially pass rushers.....(cough cough Clay Matthews). I'm going to be blunt with you, ties suck, they suck for fans, they suck for players and teams, and they suck the most for the league. Nobody, NOBODY, wants to see a tie. I seriously think the NFL should switch too NCAA overtime rules, where each team gets the opportunity to get the ball and score. The roughing the passer penalty is the biggest BS of the 2018 season thus far. I understand the NFL is trying to keep QB's from getting hurt, but holy cow there is only so much defenders can do to avoid hitting a QB in a way that is deemed dangerous. This has been a terrible year for kickers, there have been 49 missed field goals this year..........Damn. Thankfully, the football God's have limited season ending injuries this year, while last year was seemingly doomsday for just about any star player!

    Individual Team's

    Green Bay Packers- (3-1)
The Packers should be 4-0, but they very easily could be 2-2 right now if things had gone differently against the Bears. The Packers, and more specifically Aaron Rogers, are looking good right now. The rest of the team.........meh. The Defense is looking better, but better won't stave off the Bears and Vikings explosive offense's down the road. The offense has looked better as well, but is somehow under performing, against both the Bills and Redskins, the offense has looked lost and confused, and the Packers have no running game. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Packers are doing good enough for now, come week 8, we will truly know what this team can do, and what it's ceiling, and or floor, really is.
    Chicago Bears- (3-1)
Like their NFC North rivals, the Bears could legitimately be 4-0 right now........holy crap. The last Bears outfit to go 4-0 according to the interweb was the 06 Bears, the same team that went to the Superbowl that year..........hmmm. Thankfully the Bears have a much better QB, and overall offense than what the 06' Bears had. I'm not saying the Bears are going to the Superbowl, but man are they looking good, the addition of Khalil Mack, and the sudden improvement of Mitch Trubisky is getting people excited about this team for the first time in forever..........don't you think about singing!
    Minnesota Vikings- (1-2-1)
Ooof....that's what all Vikings fans are saying right now, as the Vikings are barely better than the Lions at 1-2-1. The Vikings are arguably the most talented team in the NFC North, Kirk Cousins is playing really good football, and the Vikings opponents have all been beatable (except for the Rams). So what the hell is happening?! I have no clue. Actually, it seems to be, of all things, the defense that is holding this team back, which is preposterous considering the Vikings had a top 5 defense last year. The Vikings need to get something going here, and fast, or else the party is ending way early this year......
    Detroit Lions- (1-3)
I never would have guessed the Lions one and only win would be against the Patriots.....the Patriots! After getting embarrassed by the Jets, barely losing to Jimmy G and the 49ers, and blowing a 2nd win to the Cowboys, things aren't looking particularly good for Matt Patricia and the Lions right now. What was really strange was Matthew Staffords poor performance through the first 2 games, while he has since gotten back to elite form, it shows how dependent this team is on Stafford. While the Lions have finally gotten a running game going, the defense is stagnant. Long story short, the Lions are sucking right now......

    Washington Redskins- (2-1)

The Redskins are a confusing bunch so far. They beat the Packers and Cardinals handily, and then they lose to the Colts, the Colts! Yet they are atop the NFC East, the same division that houses the SB champ Eagles. Alex Smith is a perfect fit for Washington, but the rest of the team is painfully average, and that mediocre talent has occasionally shown up big time, while other times, the Redskins look awful. If the Redskins beat the Saints, which is doubtful, then that is a very good sign we have all underestimated the Redskins ability to compete....
    Philadelphia Eagles- (2-2)
The Eagles of 2018 are looking more like the Eagles of 2016 that went 7-9, rather than the 2017 Eagles that won the SB. Nick Foles didn't play particularly well in his two starts, but he played well enough to get a win. Carson Wentz has returned, but the Eagles still seem flat. They have no running game as of now, and the secondary has looked atrocious. With 3 of their 4 upcoming games coming against former playoff teams, things are pretty tense in Philly. Rumors that the Eagles have gotten cocky, are certainly looking true at the moment, but the good news is that the Eagles are only a game away from being atop the division once more, but that might not continue if the Eagles continue to play the way they have been thus far......
    Dallas Cowboys- (2-2)
Yes Dak Prescott hasn't been amazing, yes the defense is nowhere to be found, but people, the Cowboys are missing 3 out of their 5 O-linemen, to any other team, that would be a death sentence for the season (Just ask the Cardinals). The silver lining here is that Ezekiel Elliot has been amazing so far, and despite the fact the O-line is diminished, Zeke can beat you on the ground, and as we saw last week, in the air as well. While Dak certainly needs to play better, he has very few weapons to work with outside of Elliot and Beasley, that's a problem, a problem the "GOAT", Tom Brady is dealing with at the moment too. Don't underestimate this team like the Lions did, the Cowboys might not be SB contenders, but they can win games.....
    New York Giants- (1-3)
Oh boy......things have not gone according to plan for big blue. Eli Manning is as inconsistent as ever, Saquon Barkley is doing everything he possibly can to win, and the defense has failed at the most critical of times. That is a terrible trio for New York to have when they had playoff aspirations. I think everyone outside of New York knew the Giants wouldn't suddenly become contenders, but nobody could have seen a decline this dramatic. Eli Manning only has to not turn the ball over, Saquon just has to keep the offense balanced, and the defense has to Finnish. If the Giants can do these things, more wins will come, but for now, it's tough sailing......

    Carolina Panthers- (2-1)
Things are finally coming together for the Panthers, and it certainly helps the rest of the NFC South has been in a bit of funk too. The offense led by Cam Newton and powered by Christian McCaffrey, has been rolling right along. The defense, which I think is underrated, has held 3 powerful offenses in Dallas, Atlanta, and Cincinnati to only 60 points, 10th best in the league. Carolina needs to stay consistent this season, as the schedule doesn't really lighten up from here, but I think Carolina has what it takes to possibly win the division......so long as a particular NFC South foe from Louisiana doesn't have something to say about it..........
    New Orleans Saints- (3-1)
The Saints are lucky the Jets, not themselves, gave the Browns their first win. Otherwise, the Saints would be 2-2 and looking pretty stupid. The Saints have improved over their first two games, but much improvement in the Defense and offense needs to be made. The Defense, particularly the secondary needs to get better, or else the pass happy NFC South will run over this team, much like the Bucc's did in Week 1. Drew Brees has been doing great per usual, but he needs some help in the running and receiver game, thankfully he gets Mark Ingram back from suspension, so that should pay dividends immediately.
    Tampa Bay Buccaneers- (2-2)
The first two weeks for this team were Fitzmagical......but the magic has since died. Fitzpatrick got benched last week, and Winston is back to take over starting duty once more. Sadly, this doesn't guarantee success, Winston didn't exactly play inspiring football last year, and his off field issues nearly cost him his job. Despite the recent lack of success, we have seen the Buccs are more than capable of competing, even against the leagues toughest opponents, and Tampa Bay has improved since last year. While immediate success might not come, this team might upset some teams down the road.....
    Atlanta Falcons- (1-3)
Being a Falcons fan the last two years has sucked.....a blown Superbowl, a disappointing 2017, and an even more disappointing start to this year. Matt Ryan is on fire right now, yet the team keeps screwing him over. Yes, the team has had the crap beaten out of it with injuries just in 4 weeks, but this team is way, way too talented to be 1-3 at this point. The Falcons must beat the Viking next week to have even an inkling of hope to get back in the playoff race in the NFC South.

    Los Angeles Rams- (4-0)
My oh my.......this team is eerily similar to the 1999 Rams that were dubbed the "greatest show on turf".....so what's the difference? This team is better. Jared Goff is playing at an All-Pro level, the offense in General is steam rolling everyone, and the defense is just as potent, despite many injuries to the secondary. The Rams are most definitely the most talented team in the league, and it's showing through. Thankfully for L.A, the rest of the NFC West isn't so fortunate....let alone talented.....Superbowl 53 is calling L.A......
    Seattle Seahawks- (2-2)
If this season is any indication, the Seahawks of yore are no more. Seattle could be 1-3, but thankfully the Cardinals were worse than they were on Sunday. Russel Wilson is continually running this organization it seems, the O-line is till garbage, the running game still hasn't made a comeback, and the defense is a shell of its former self. Despite the doom and gloom, the Seahawk's have played just well enough, but with games against the Rams and Raiders coming up, its not hard to see the Seahawks being 2-4 by week 7.
    San Francisco 49ers- (1-3)
Jimmy G is hurt......well the 49ers had a good run. That is the general feeling regarding the 49ers now that Jimmy G is out for the season with a torn ACL. Sadly, the 49ers season is over. C.J Beathard showed however on Sunday he's no pushover, and the 49ers have played well under him before. For 49ers fans, this has turned bad pretty fast......but there's always next year! Yeah that doesn't help..........
    Arizona Cardinals- (0-4)
Being the only win less team in the NFL is usually taken by someone like the Browns, not the Cardinals, yet, here we are. The Cardinals have been flaming garbage so far, and it's due in part to just about every aspect of the team. Coaching, Special Teams, Offense, Defense.......everything is bad. David Johnson hasn't been David Johnson, the defense isn't doing enough to stop teams on 3rd down, and the offense is struggling. So what good can be taken out of this? Josh Rosen played really well in his first start. Rookies Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are getting most of the attention, when Rosen showed he is just as capable of playing as the rest of em. The Cardinals will win at some point, but against who??

    Cincinnati Bengals-(3-1)
Where on earth did Cinncy come from! Boy oh boy do the Bengals look and seem different this year. Of course, taking advantage of a flailing Steeler's and Browns team doesn't hurt, the Bengals have beat quality teams....consistently. Consistency has always been a problem for the Bengals, except for their consistent playoff failures, but besides that the Bengals are moving the ball, and doing well on defense. While things are honky dory for now, the Ravens might disrupt their fung shue again.....
    Baltimore Ravens- (3-1)
Like the Bengals, the Ravens are doing surprisingly well, yet it is concerning their only loss has come at the hands of a division rival. However, Joe Flacco and co. have obliterated the competition, and the defense is doing just as well. With the Steeler's out of the way, a journey to the playoffs seems more realistic for Baltimore.
    Pittsburgh Steelers- (1-2-1)
WTF. Said every Steeler's fan ever this past week. The Steeler's are not looking particularly good right now, and rumors of Mike Tomlin losing his team, and Big Ben losing his touch are growing louder as the losses and disappointments continue. What can be changed? Getting Le'Veon Bell would help, and somehow finding a defense better than their own would also do wonders. The Steeler's need to get something going these next couple of weeks, or total panic and chaos will ensue.
    Cleveland Browns- (1-2-1)
The fact the Browns are tied with the Steeler's, and have secured their first win in 600 some odd days is nothing short of insanity. The Browns are still bad, but they are nowhere near the disgusting and depressing 2017 version of themselves. Baker Mayfield, who was supposed to sit out the whole year, is now the starter, which has yet to be seen as a good or bad thing. If Baker continues to impress, and the Browns continually compete, the Browns might actually win against some solid teams.

    Miami Dolphins- (3-1)
Despite being 3-1, and at the top of their division, the Dolphins are looking average, just average. While Ryan Tannehill has been playing mostly good football, the same cannot be said of the defense. All of the Dolphins games thus far have relied on the offense to secure wins, and while that formula has worked thus far, it won't for everybody, it certainly didn't against the Patriots.......
    New England Patriots- (2-2)
The Patriots might be 2-2, but don't be fooled, the Patriots are always bad in September. With Julian Edelman returning this next week, Tom Brady will finally have a good receiver to throw too. The Defense has played better, but it still needs some work to keep high powered offenses shutdown. The offense outside of the Running game, is pretty weak, and the lack of talent at receiver isn't helping this team, but the Patriots will make it work again.......they always do.
    New York Jets- (1-3)
2018 started in amazing fashion for the Jets as their rookie QB and a motivated team destroyed the Lions in Week 1. That has been the sole bright spot since then.
Sam Darnold is playing well, but he is still a rookie and mistakes are everywhere for him, the defense is still growing, and has also made it's fair share of back breaking mistakes. Jets fans simply need to be patient, and in the meantime, enjoy whatever wins they can get before next year.
    Buffalo Bills- (1-3)
Much like the Jets, the Bills are struggling along with their rookie QB Josh Allen, who at times has impressed, and other times disappoints. The Bills are rebuilding, and that is incredibly apparent, but they are continuing to compete, and they even managed to get a win against the Vikings......the Vikings!! It will be a rough year, but this will be a good learning experience for all involved.

    Tennessee Titans- (3-1)
The Titans are surprising people.....including me. Yet they are under the radar largely because of a certain NFC North team. The Titans have a solid defense, and offense, neither are particularly imposing, but they are dynamic enough to keep teams off balance. Beating their division rival Jaguars was no small feat, so it will be interesting to see where this team is by week 8....
    Jacksonville Jaguars- (3-1)
No matter how well the defense, or overall team does, the conversation always goes back to Blake Bortles. Bortles has impressed for the most part this year, playing better now than he ever has, but better doesn't exclude game ending mistakes like the ones he had against Tennessee. The Jaguars will be contenders, but the fate of the team depends largely on the play of their QB........yikes.
    Houston Texans- (1-3)
There is almost no excuse as to why this team is 1-3.....none. The Texans are the most talented team in the AFC South, yet here they are, at 3rd place. Deshaun Watson hasn't played like he did in his magical rookie year, but that's to be expected, and he is still learning and improving. The Defense is the unit that is underachieving, remarkably considering this is a defense with JJ Watt, Tyran Mathieu, and Whitney Mercilus......
    Indianapolis Colts- (1-3)
While it's a miracle Andrew luck ins't just back playing, but is playing well, nobody knows what to think of the Colts right now. The Defense is playing better than it has in the last 5 years, so credit to Frank Reich for that, but the team is still making mistakes and doing things a team with experience and age shouldn't be making. This is definitely a transition year.......

    Kansas City Chiefs- (4-0)
As a Broncos fan, this is particularly hard to swallow. The Chiefs, and more specifically Patrick Mahaomes, are amazing. Mahomes is on pace to break Peyton Manning's TD's in a season record.....what?! The Chiefs defense on the other hand is what's holding this team back, while it hasn't yet cost the team a game, I wouldn't be surprised if we see that soon.......
    Denver Broncos- (2-2)
The Broncos are sitting right where I thought they would be....but that doesn't make it any less painful. Case Keenum and the offense have done better than what last year's unit was capable of, but they're still underachieving. The Defense remains dangerous and unpredictable, and that nearly won the game against the Chiefs. So once more, the Broncos are relying of the Defense, but that might not be the case later on in the year, and hopefully not next year.
    Los Angeles Chargers- (2-2)
The Chargers always find a way to play down to bad opponents, they nearly lost to the The Jimmy G less 49ers! The Chargers have the pieces to make the playoffs, but once more their execution is lacking. Not having Joey Bosa for the first few games has been tough, but the defense still shouldn't be struggling like it is.......
    Oakland Raiders- (1-3)
The Raiders could be 0-4 right now, and in the AFC West, that's not something you can afford. Beating the Browns led by a rookie QB in overtime shouldn't be an accomplishment. Jon Gruden is still on the hot seat, not just for letting Khalil Mack go, but seemingly not majorly improving the play of QB Derek Carr. It has been a very depressing and stressful start for the Raiders faithful......

Want me to show you where the door is? :D

Rams are looking good. KC has a really good offense but I think their D will let them down in the post season.
    Eagles have a Superbowl Hangover.

As for everyone else, well, this year has been so up-and-down with most teams that its impossible to tell who is for real!

I admire the way the Packers are run, and you have to respect their pedigree.

Eagles off to a shaky start. I was at the Colts game, where they just squeaked by, and will go see them play the Panthers later this month. Appears the offensive line could use some work and the secondary is a disaster. Glad I got a Super Bowl Champions Jacket, may be a long time before a repeat. Too soon to panic I guess, but a poor performance against the Vikings on Sunday should be a real reason for concern. I am a fan, but it’s only a game.

Yep, when they played the Eagles in Philly. Where I caught a bad cold from one or many of the 98,000 people there. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it. I think this is my last year attending Eagles games. I have done it longer than I can remember and next year, at 74, if I make it, it will be time to pack it in.

Didn’t Patton say something like, “all glory is fleeting.” Or was that the guy behind the Roman conqueror? Either way, could be true.

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS! Really put the Denver Donkeys to the sword yesterday! Far exceeded my expectations! A nice 34 - 16 with over 300 yds rushing! But talk about an up and down season - Crowell had 0 yards against Jacksonville a week ago, and then sets a Jets record against the Donkeys with over 200 yds rushing! Go figure!

KC Chiefs are still scary but are somehow the underdogs against the Pats next week? Meanwhile, the Donkeys will get stomped on by the Rams next week.
