My name is Tony, and in desperation I clicked the old link I have to what was once called World War Two Zone. I couldn't believe my eyes when it opened here. Is this indeed the old site saved or a new one? I'm hoping that it is the former as there were years of wonderful threads an information, photos etc on the Zone, and it was a sad day when it fell over. I had something like 10000 posts there. If it's not, no matter, it's great to be here. My interests range from the interwar years through to 45 and cover a range of things from Armour to uniforms and awards. I make models (large scale), and really miss the resources we had. Hopefully there are more here.
That would be wonderful. How do I access the archive? I've checked the threads and can't find the ones I was looking for. Looks to be a very good place in any case
The owner of these Forums, Otto, has been carrying out a salvage operation to save the content of other forums/websites that have been lost at sea. I don't know that World War Two Zone is one of them, but it may be a work in progress.
Welcome to the site Bishop! I'm quite pleased to see you here, as I know you by reputation. I've read more than a few of your modeling threads over at the old WorldWarTwoZone. I know you were a mod over there, so by all means give me your input, I'm happy to make adjustments here for the betterment of the site. You actually picked a good time to join here, for a couple reasons. First, I do have some very good news about WW2Z. Late last year, Jim O handed over the content of WW2Z to me and I do have it all archived offline at this time, so unfortunately the content isn't currently available. However, in the next couple months as I upgrade our software from XenForo 1 to XenForo 2, I'll be importing the entire WW2Z database here. These posts will be fully integrated into this site and available as regular posts here. What this means is that each one of your 8,500 posts from WW2Zone will be back online and part of your profile. As well, I'm also doing some forums restructuring, with one of the goals to have a proper modelling section. The forums are a bit scattered right now, so find a good spot to dive in for now, and I'll create new dedicated section for model builds.
Otto, you've just made my day!!!! Glorious news. I'm so glad Jim handed it over. There were/ are again thousands of fantastic photo references and some wonderful friends now lost sadly. I look forward to seeing it all again as you go along. Just glad it's back.
Cheers Tony, glad I am able to help. I utterly hate to see great content evaporate from the web, if you know any place I can help please spread the word.
