Midterm elections are sometimes regarded as a referendum on the sitting president's and/or incumbent party's performance.
The party of the incumbent president tends to lose ground during midterm elections: since WWII the President's party has lost an average 26 seats in the House, and an average four seats in the Senate; moreover, in only five of those has the President's party gained seats in either house and of those only two (1934 and 2002) have seen the President's party gain seats in both houses.

Trump only needs the Senate to nominate more and more of conservative federal judges and Supreme Court justices.
He only needs his pen and paper to purge the federal administration from liberals.
He only needs the Senate to sign international treaties and agreements.

He is making "America great again" and conservative for the next twenty years right now and was given at least two more years to finish the job.

So hurry up with those ribs donations.

Hmmmm...84 confirmed, 70 awaiting Senate action, and a whopping 124 vacancies he has not bothered with...Justice in inaction.

Big deal...That happens with every Presidential party change...The next Democratic President will sweep out all the Cons...Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

And...As we have seen in the past, he does not need the Senate or House to abrogate said Treaties.

America never stopped being "Great."

Well...it's only half conservative now...Given two more years, he will "finish" the "job" by making the Federal Legislative branch entirely Democrat controlled.

 

Of course, the next Democratic President, if any, will sweep out things.

But the Republicans has been given a window of opportunity to stuff the Supreme Court with their people, the window is not going to open again for many years to come.
I've heard in the case of federal judges the situation is somewhat similar.

Trump isn't merely sweeping and stuffing, he is reorganizing the federal bureaucracy, removing federal rules by hundreds and weakening the "deep state."
It can be reversed but creation is harder than destruction and needs more time.

From recent history of the serving justices...Bush appointed one, Clinton appointed two, Bush II appointed two, Obama appointed two, and Trump appointed two.

Trump has replaced conservative justices with conservative justices...Hardly constitutes "packing."

A little closer to the truth...Trump has nominated mostly white men, as opposed to the more diverse group that Obama nominated.

Trump has neither "swept" nor "stuffed." Except for sweeping inconvenient facts under the rug.

That is a very very odd thing to say...Given the many meanings assigned to this term "Deep State."

Given one meaning - that of some unholy cabal of big business and banks - Trump is very much a part of and is only empowering and strengthening the "Deep State" by removing said rules and regulations.

Given another meaning - that of the military-industrial complex - Trump, is not only the Commander-In Chief of this military-industrial complex, but he also has as his White House Chief of Staff and his Secretary of Defense members of this so-called "Deep State." Further, he is empowering it and strengthening it, by enlarging the US military and the defense budget, and increasing foreign arms sales by 33%.

Yes, yes, taking the easy way out is one of Trump's hallmarks...He'd sooner destroy someone else's legacy than make one of his own...Too much work from Donald "Quack Quack" Trump. He tires easily, and it eats up too much of his Twitter time.

 

Trump employes white conservative folks because competent white conservative folks exist in large numbers, and non-white are scarce.
That liberals' obsession with skin color, the idea that people should be awarded according to their color, not their abilities and contribution to society.
I wonder if you (G-d forbid) become gravely ill will you call for a properly "colored" doctor or the competent one.

The deep state is a mass of liberal-minded, powerful bureaucrats inefficiently running the country.
They say Trump removes 22 regulations per a single one introduced. Without empowering regulations, the deep state will be weak, and that's the goal.

Clinton was going to stuff the Supreme Court with liberals and create a long-lasting liberal one. Trump prevented that by replacing conservative justices with conservative justices and that's a huge victory.
Especially that the conservative justices are relatively young and some of the liberals are at the end of their careers.

 

From what I've seen, Trump seems to staff his administration based on, and in this order 1- Loyalty, as would be to a dictator. 2- Reality show photogenic appeal. 3 - Whiteness 4 - Maleness 5- Blond Females A visually and politically aryan administration. I was actually shocked, and a bit worried that the Misogynist in Chief was acting presidential in his tweet about Stacy Abrams . But then I saw him on Fox and was relieved to see he is still a one trick pony.

I did not omit Competence as a criteria. Trump did.

 

Those people, his administration serve at the pleasure of the President, i.e. his.
They are responsible for implementing his ideas and policies, so it's obvious that disloyal folks aren't welcome.

 

They serve at his pleasure to continue the democracy by acting according to the constitution. It appears to me that thedonld only dictates. How do you feel about The Military enforcing laws withing US borders? Constitutional?
