What’s never published with these pictures is the effects caused by the explosion...I want to see some up close damage Pictures or at least a written run down of any major damage...
Problem is that your first pic of the stem with the hole and the one that I posted were taken from similar angles - as the ships and their respective positions are readily identifiable. The second pic that you posted of Saratoga was taken from said opposite side.
Speaking of "cool pix", I got a couple of dozen copies of U. S. Army-Navy Journal of Recognition from Patrick. These are large format editions, same size as Life magazine back in the day. They are at the top of my to-do list after six years waiting in line like good dogfaces.
The official report includes rather detailed descriptions of the damage as well as photos which are unfortunately very poor quality: http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/367502.pdf EDIT: Some photo here: https://www.scubadoctor.com.au/downloads/operation_crossroads_pictorial_history.pdf
Ah, "Waddy's Wagon", this photo has always been a favorite of mine. Nice colorization, the original photo was in black&white. While it's is "Cool", it is also sad, when one realizes that these men have about one month to live, as the bomber went missing January 9th, 1945, after turning back to cover another stricken B-29. The crew in the photo are: Plane Commander, Captain Walter R. "Waddy" Young, Ponca City, Oklahoma, former All-American end. Lieutenant Jack H. Vetters, Corpus Christi, Texas, co-pilot. Lieutenant John F. Ellis, Moberly, Missouri, bombardier. Lieutenant Paul R. Garrison, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, navigator. Sergeant George E. Avon, Syracuse, New York, radio operator. Lieutenant Bernard S. Black, Woodhaven, New York, Flight Engineer. Sergeant Kenneth M. Mansie of Randolph, Maine, Flight Technician Sergeant Lawrence L. Lee of Max, North Dakota, gunner. Sergeant Wilbur J. Chapman of Panhandle, Texas, gunner. Sergeant: Corbett L. Carnegie, Grindstone Island, New York, gunner. Sergeant: Joseph J. Gatto, Falconer, New York, gunner. Nice write-up on Captain Walter "Waddy" Young. Memorial Day: Remembering Waddy Young

I can't see it either, in Chrome or Firefox. Did wonder if it's a rather crude timezone block, but suspect it may just block entire country's IPs. Think Cloudflare may have come up before as something of a sledgehammer security system.
