Though my personal favourite (other than early Kegresses with glossy Civvy bodies (saw that one being loaded onto a truck one Beltring with, we think, Mr Littlefield looking on) and a string of interwar stuff), lived on the other side of the pond.

The T-17 looks great and I've never heard of it either. Would make an interesting subject of study to possibly create a work of art.

I know this is a old post, but I,m the one who has a t17 halftrack. I got three halftracks. and other ww2 vehicles.

Thanks for the photos. Awesome collection. Is the gin pole on the third track post-war?

 

Turns out two armored T17 halftracks were built for testing in 1943 They were not based on the truck cab version. One was built by Autocar and the other by White. The Autocar version had slopping sides and rear while the White did not. Each example weighed 30,200 lbs. Despite the weight they were fast than other tracks due to larger, more powerful engines.

 

Most of the t17 like I got went to Russia during ww2. This is the only one I know of thats left.

 

slipdigit, I live near alabama. I was in the al. guard for a year at Florence Al. Went to Korea with them also,They were a mean bunch, but good folks ( Sweet home alabama ) I live in tn on the state line
