The T-17 looks great and I've never heard of it either. Would make an interesting subject of study to possibly create a work of art.
I know this is a old post, but I,m the one who has a t17 halftrack. I got three halftracks. and other ww2 vehicles.
Turns out two armored T17 halftracks were built for testing in 1943 They were not based on the truck cab version. One was built by Autocar and the other by White. The Autocar version had slopping sides and rear while the White did not. Each example weighed 30,200 lbs. Despite the weight they were fast than other tracks due to larger, more powerful engines.
