    28 January 1944.

"By the 28th, VI Corps had moved beyond the range of naval gunfire support except on its flanks, and much stiffer enemy resistance developed along the entire front. This day Edison was called on twice to give fire support to the VI Corps right flank near Littoria. 'Very, very good,' reported her shore fire-control party after 103 rounds on a troop concentration; 'Brassed off a bunch of Krauts!' But there were plenty more."

    "Sicily-Salerno-Anzio" - Samuel Eliot Morison, pages 350-351.

75 years ago today the 1st and 3rd Rangers were told to move to an Assembly Area located eight miles south of Cisterna and prepare to advance to capture Cisterna.

No, that was from the VI Corps G-3 Daily Summary. I used to have access to a lot of stuff for the Italian Campaign, but they are all in a filing cabinet in Northern Virginia now. I just have bits and pieces of notes and such like. I'll see what else i can dig out.
