Its seems a quiet week this week so I thought id post something I was watching last night...Americans reactions to things Australian...this one is on Chopper Reid, a career stand over man who didn't hurt the average man, just drug dealers and child molesters...he cut his own ears off just to get out of a section in prison he didn't want to be in anymore...hes spent 17 years in prison...He has about 20 contracts out on him (only two he takes seriously) - And thinks torture by pulling out toe nails is effeminate or "poofy" (a slang word for homosexual) and prefers the blow torch for results...hes thick as two bricks but has a degree of noble thought and a sense of humour...he is considered a bit of a legend in Australia...he died needing a transplant but refused saying a little girl could do with the organ more than him... The Mob, for the most part, goes after other mobsters or those related to the mob...Bad people. Cut off their own ears...Not that I know of, but fingers have been done. Several have been on TV shows, some with their identity hidden, some not. Several have had their lives made into movies. Given up a new liver...Well, that is part of the mythology. He didn't give up a new liver, he made the choice not to be put on the transplant list. He might have found a match before he died, he might not have. That being said, it was still a ballsy call on his part. What I did find interesting, and did not know about him, was that he was a children's book author.
