Well, it's a serious allegation, people shouldn't be called liars just like that, maybe we should ask them directly the question.
Not that I care but if you do ask, I would be very interested in knowing how they are duplicating the original military spec load given that the original spec primers, shot (aka "projectile"), and most likely powder is unavailable in large quantities for all variants of the rounds fired from the 76mm Gun M1A2. If they are machining their own armor piercing shot (either M62A1, M79 or M93) to original spec I would buy up to 71 units for display purposes. I should note that M26/M26B1 cases are available in large quantity fairly economically if you're in the US so it is quite possible that original cases are being used. Let me know how it goes! PS: For those interested in some technical literature regarding the 76mm Gun M1 series (*cough* *cough* von Poop *cough* *cough*), this is an interesting read from the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center. https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/1045347.pdf
You're about to find yourself on the wrong side of the barricades... Just wait until May 1st. I have something special in mind for WW2F.
I know rev war and ACW reenactors use reduced charges when ever they shoot. The emo firings at Dahlgren with the 16" guns on armed forces day used to use reduced charges as well (an no projectile). So plenty of precedence for it. Of course they could be using full charges though.
God, I've got some serious monetary shuffling to get started on. Maybe in a few years I can make a trip. Only 1000 miles away.
Early rounds were mostly steel I believe. Latter US sabot rounds are almost if not exclusively DU but many/most other nations use tungsten. It's not quite as good a penetrator or in post penetration effects from what I understand but a lot safer and easier to make and doesn't have the issue with post impact DU exposure.
