Report: Ocasio-Cortez Eying Senate

Freshman Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is causing headaches for the establishment Democrats in the House and those headaches may get even worse. Party leaders reportedly expect the New York lawmaker to challenge one of the state’s senators.

The socialist ideology has been soaring in popularity, especially among younger voters. Ocasio-Cortez is reportedly looking to capitalize on that momentum in order to elevate her to the Senate.

The freshman lawmaker has already put pressure on her colleagues to shift more to the left, and has already made her voice known in regard to the Democrat primary.

“If your pride is being a moderate centrist candidate then go out and say that — say I’m proud to be a centrist, I’m proud to be funded by Wall Street, I’m proud to not push as hard as I can on woman’s rights,” stated Ocasio-Cortez. “…Don’t kind of come out here and then say you’re a progressive candidate, but at the same time not support repealing something as basic as the Hyde Amendment.”

Senator Kirstin Gillibrand is up for reelection in 2024, but her senior colleague may be the more immediate target. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is up for reelection in 2022.

Now this would be fun to watch. I'd love to see her tangle with Schumer. He'd tear her into a million little pieces.

 

Yo!!, you from New York? New York, where we re-elected a comptroller while he was under indictment for misuse of state funds and he did not stop on GO after being elected but went from his state office to jail? New York, where the last 4 house speakers of the house are either in jail, just go out of jail, or trying to stay out of jail? Schumer? Love him like my favorite uncle but he's old money. Fuggeddaboutit. IMO we need more AOC's to counteract the Capitalist Pigs we have enabled. Not all of Capitalists, just the pigs.

My grandparents except one Nana were economic immigrants from Poland and Quebec who settled in NY circa 1900 . Nana went back to 1600's Raised my kids in NY and then they became economic immigrants and moved the PNW and we followed. AOC would make a great senator IMO as long as our democracy keeps working to find the middle. I'm not comfortable at what I see happening now personally. I just think the establishment, in the form of the smiling cobra Schumer will find a way to torpedo her. She upset the apple cart just be defeating the guy who was there to start with and then shot her mouth off so much.
Also, my maternal grandmother was Puerto Rican, so her politics matter, not her color. And I like Rosie Perez also.

 

AOC has proven to be media savvy, but the House is a pep rally and the Senate is a club.
