The day after Christmas I received an unexpected package in the mail. It contained a FPS postcard from the Montana Military Museum and a couple small extras of the First Special Service Force. The museum has a significant First Special Service collection, and is the official “kit shop” for First Special Service Force Association. As a Canadian living in Texas the joint Canadian/American 1st Special Service Force items were very welcome and especially significant.

    Thank you Jack B!

I've been wanting to visit that museum. My dad went into the FSSF after his 1st Ranger Btn was wiped out. As it happens, I've been asked to say some words at a ceremony at the grave site of a forceman who was wounded in France and sent home then took his own life. The occasion is replacing the simple stone at his grave with a marker from the US government.

It's a small, regional museum, but packed with history.

Yes, I've been a couple of times. I really like that museum. Russell had a great sense of humor and it shows. A remarkable guy in his own right. No Leonardo or Rembrandt, but he had fun with his work. I think his illustrated letters are my favorites.

I didn't think you basterds were worth it, but my wife paid the postage. So, it's all good.
