My name is Von Ritter, I am a retired US Army disabled veteran. I have always enjoyed discussing World War II, so I finally decided to join a discussion forum, and this one seem like a good place to start. Please be patient with me, this is the second fòrum I have been a member of so may take me a little while to become up to speed. Take Care
Thanks Lou, it seems their are a number of other Veterans here. I think I will fit in, I joined the US Army in 1979 and retired in 2003. I received 100% disability from VA when I retired. Then I did some work as a government contractor in the Middle East, currently I am living in South Korea enjoying my retirement. Thanks, for your kind words.
Good to have with us VR. Where are you in S. Korea? I spent 16 months there in 61-62 in the engineers working on the Kimpo (now Gimpo) airfield. Sure doesn't look like the same place now.
I am about 100km from Camp Humpreys in a a small Town near Seosan Korea, While on active duty I did three tours here, First tour, I was at Camp Liberty bell, Second tour Inwas at Camp House, last tour I was at Camp Red Cloud 2ID Headquarters all tours were for a year at a time. Yes .I agree Korea doesn't look the way I say it the first I was stationed here. Even the Airport you mentioned is not the main international hub it use to be, now the main international Airport is located at Inchon. That's where anyone coming to Korea, even US Soldiers fly into. Well, I have to go, however I certainly enjoyed the conversation, if you have anymore questions contact me anytime. Take Care
