Can someone give me some extra info about this helmet?

I got this from my grandfather who found it on the streets during ww2! It’s from 1942, and I guess from the Canadian Army (Brodie Helmet)?

Can anyone give me some more information please (price, exact model, the reason behind the black stripe in the middle,...)?

    Thank you in advance

Seems unlikely that there would be Canadians there in 1942 unless POWs from Dieppe were passing through. British might have been there in 1940, British and/or Canadian in 1944/5. If you post the name of the town then it's more likely that some one here may know more.

The helmet itself was made in 1942, but my hometown was liberated by the Canadians in 1944. So that’s how he got it .

Senior officers in First Aid Posts had a black stripe on the helmet. These helmets were usually white but examples painted khaki do exist. These were civilians in Civil Defence so highly unlikely to be in Belgium in 1942 or 1944

Yeah that’s why I said he found it in 1944 . The helmet was marked 1942, so in that year it was made, but also used later in the war.

You said he found it in 1942 hence the confusion!
