Fair warning, I started learning about WWII in 1957. Still don't consider myself an expert. Maybe when I'm as old as Otto...

Welcome. You've come to the right place. There's a lot of knowledge here. There are many threads on general information as well as specific areas, such as the role of Canada in WW2. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to post them. Someone is sure to provide answers or show you where you can find further information.

Just don't tell us who won, I'm still reading.

Oh, and the links in my sig are handy. 22 terabytes of original documents at Otto's Hyperwar right now.

Cheers mate!I Started in 2002 and there are small nice details in "Lesser known details 1-5" I think. In every section. If you want to know little bits from books and from members. I recommend. Unfortunately you have to find them, the search machine somehow cannot identify them.

You'll learn more than you'll ever thought that you would know here and also on our sister site, WW2T (World War 2 Talk). The "Talk" is more British, Euro and Commonwealth oriented so you'll get a boat load of information over there to make your brain hurt when combined with the "Forums" here. Live long and post often dude. Catch you later.

Yes, certainly. But like said we have gathered bits of info to these sites. Hate to see it go to waste. The top10 posters have mostly done them. You decide.

The more you think you know the more you realize there's so much more. Being a life-long learner is more than just a euphemism. I'm on this site for a dozen years and I've come to know how limited my knowledge is.

I saw "Victory at Sea" on the TV in 1957. That was the year I decided to join the Navy. Twelve years later I was sworn in, some fourteen hours after I graduated from high school. I did twenty years in the Navy and fourteen years at Purdue, getting two bachelors and a Masters. I also got to go to Moscow U. to give a guest lecture on the attack on Pearl Harbor. I spent a week with the interpreter making sure he was using the right words. His wife fed me while we worked. I don't know what we ate but it was good. Not as good as the samogan, however.

Yes I saw that there seems to be two different forums in the same. I don't completely understand why.

They are both WW2 sites, but this one (WW2F) is heavily populated by North American types and the other (WW2T) is overrun with British/Euro/Commonwealth types. It's sort of like a clubhouse. Many of us (me included) belong to both.
