I wonder if Canada would have joined the US if England fell?

Where and how would you invade Europe then?

"Militarily I would have preferred the U-boats shooting V1's to NY but thats my thought of the Major propaganda effort. Happy it never took place."

I even designed a submarine to carry and fire the missiles...A number of different firing ideas...my preferred was fired through the back of the sail...but a back deck loading system was the quickest and easiest method. The plan to surface in the night, late evening - early morning after making sure the coast is clear. I had given a maximum of twenty minutes on the surface, (twenty minutes before an aircraft can get to the submarine launched from the coast "if" they spot the firing. - Twenty minutes for a nearby ship to close) with the idea of prepping and firing three missiles. Then submerge until the next night, next location.
Firing two would be easy, but I really wanted a launch of three to make that extra effect. These missiles would be a smaller version of the V-2 (could be V-1s) and is assembled below decks with the final assembly on the deck. The missile would be raised horizontal and pushed along a shaft that once locked would raise perpendicular. Final checks and arming would be conducted and the missile then fired...this to be repeated twice more, with the on deck crew looking for any enemy response. All within twenty minutes.
It would be expected that a minimum of 16 packed missiles would be carried and fired over a week to two weeks. 8 missiles on either side without warheads. A rail system used to move the missiles about and a lift to the top deck for firing.

The USN Loon was based on the V-1.

I bet that any airplane capable of crossing the Atlantic would need very long runways. Such airfields would be fairly obvious under the intense aerial recon we had going on over ETO, and would probably become bomb magnets -- especially if the first mission actually put bombs on American soil, but perhaps even beforehand.

"Its four parallel runways at North Field were 8,500' in length and marked as "A", "B", "C" and "D" (from north to south). Hardstands were constucted to park and maintain 265 Superfortresses. Two additional runways were built at West Field (today, known as Tinian International Airport)."
At Tinian, when Enola Gay took off with Little Boy.

    Oh, most certainly beforehand.

For instance, take the Japanese, from the dimensions of the airfields being built in China, the Japanese were able to come up with fairly accurate performance statistics of the B-29.

But, as for an America Bomber, I would take the B-36.

    I'm
I'm sure I saw a program that said the Germans had built a plane that crossed the Atlantic flew within 20 miles of NY photographed it and flew back but it didn't mention if it had a dummy load like an empty plane isn't like one loaded with bombs. Isn't that what Yamato wanted to do with his I400s to cause hysteria and confusion. Think what could have happened to the Pacific war effort if thousands of men and equipment had to be spread along the entire Pacific coast and ships to guard the coast. It was a great plan, too bad or good for us his successors were reluctant to follow through

My third wife was writing her Ph.D. on UFO believers. I read books for her that weren't directly connected to her thesis and highlighted parts she should review. Got me in to the topic.

Here you go Uboats like the I400 class a hanger for the rockets a ramp built on to the deck and a rail system that rolls the rockets from the hanger to the ramp. That is really feasible. If the Japanese could do it the Germans could just more sophisticated and expensive. They would probably have to do it at night and fast once launched probably wouldn't be long for surface units to zero in. Advances in sonar and surface radar helped spell the end for the Uboats too. LoL if you were around then Hitler would be yelling wunderbar LoL

I don't see why they couldn't have done it. But the Germans had the habit of adding fuel cells in the fuselage for extending range so it doesn't mean they could have flown with a bomb load and back. Look at the stretched ju88 for extreme long missions, gotta do one because they are just crazy looking. Bet they handled like a tank

I think they would what choice would they have. I think if England fell Hitler would have gone for south America no major armies to frett about. Build up big and attack the us through Mexico into Texas.

I haven't seen anything on proposed Axis partners' spheres of influence in South America. Would be interesting to see how that would work.

I caused a bit of a fuss at college when I suggested that Mexico would allow free passage of Axis forces into the US in exchange for continued independence. If the isolationists had their way Mexico might have felt rather lonely and faced with possible invasions on both coast she may have taken the pragmatic route.
