I was impressed by this. "A guy named Lewis Pruneaux made a diorama of a section of Pearl Harbor in the aftermath of the Dec 1941 Japanese attack. What do you think? [Model] (901x1126)"
Would like to know how the water is done...the damaged craft is excellent...looks a bit like a painting

Very nicely done. However I have never tried anything like that. I may be interested in something representing water for my next model, and I may use a piece of plexiglass or maybe nothing? I have on order, the Tamiya water line model of the USS Saratoga CV3, from the battle of Iwo Jima 1945. About 150 pieces and about 15” long. It appears to be minimal painting.
It should be pretty straightforward...She was painted in Measure 21 during November 1-8, 1944, at Pearl Harbor. Measure 21
Thanks much! I see what you mean. I will probably have it dark gray on the islands and masts and maybe a few other things. Letting the deck and hull as it was produced. Perhaps paint the 8 aircraft dark blue. That is supposedly all that come with it, we’ll see. One decal so they say, number 3 for on the deck at the bow. Maybe some guns and life rafts dark gray also. Supposed to get here as late as May 11, we shall see. Coming from a long way, Japan. At 76, this could be it! I said that before. But I haven’t built a carrier since I was about 13 years old. I Wanted something simple and with Tamiya quality. Ought to be interesting.
I found this photo of her and will probably use it for the most part. It’s hard to tell but it appears that the top of the stack is painted flat black. Look at all those life rafts! According to a description I read, it said that the flight deck was light blue.
I'm, Looks great must have spent months working on it. I think it was crazy what the Navy did so they could say those destroyers were not sunk. Hello you built new hulls and installed salvaged machine and guns. They were gone. I think the more ships they got back in action the more they could say the Pearl harbor attack was ineffective. Look at the repair and reconstruction. Okalhoma they put so much in rolling her over and patching her up before saying she was just too old and the Arizona they put a lot into refloating her till they finally realized there wasn't a hull to refloat.
