Interesting they tap the trees during the cool months. What are some of the mist popular products for maple, I read that maple syrup is usually diluted with something else. It's been pretty kewl here in usually warm and sunny California. Told my ex this is the time a bunch of out of staters come to get away from the ice and snow see Cali while its green and warm but not our hot months then they move out here and freak out in the summer when it gets so hot you could put some veggie oil on your car and fry an egg,lol. Then they experience the wild fires either on the news or having it run thru their neighborhood. We've had some really big ones in the last couple of decades. Hopefully their right about we've burned so much over the years that there's not much left to burn. However they've said that before and we still had som really huge burns. We have the largest amount of wildfire personnel plus city and county firefighters and I believe the largest fleet of air fighting craft and its hell to stop those wild fires when the winds kick up and it's been windy of late. That high wind helps dry out the chapperal and then the wind drives the wildfire. Also the winds bring out the fire bugs. We had a huge fire up in the mountains a mountain highway was the route of a huge fire when some idiot threw flares as he, she, they drive along crest highway for miles and started at least a dozen fires. I think they should set up concealed remote cameras to catch these dolts. What is wrong with those type of people wanting things to burn sometimes causing deaths and high dollar destruction. Anyway what's the big thing to do with a fresh tap of maple.

 

Was watching the British scifi the giant behemoth, couldn't recognize the planes used, the dragonfly was easy and the blooper when it changes into a whirlwind, lol, love the movie database had a list of all fire arms and found out the plane was the hawker sea hawk. They have both the helicopters in my scale now there on my wish list.

When I was helping some friends remodel their house in east county San Diego they had a cousin from Las Vegas come over with a jacuzzi tube guess he worked for a place and got them a deal. He and his gf complained how humid it was and east county is known for being hot and dry. They said that in Vegas the humidity is like zero so even two percent was pretty humid to them. But I will say you dowdy out fast in Vegas.

I don't understand all these dolts who fight vaccination, like those two guys that told their wives they were sorry for not getting vac, on their death bed. Now that lawyer that fought vaccination just died from covid. I've got both my shots but now trying to find out if I have to go back in for a third. My mom and sister got notices for a booster. The thing the longer people let this covid run it will keep mutating till the vaccines we have now maybe become ineffective and I'm tired of this going on and family not being able to come over. My nephew who moved to Melbourne to marry his gf they were going to come visit during the holidays but the new travel restrictions made it unaffordable. Any Aussies that travel out of the country must check into a isolation hotel and at their expense four thousand Australian per person. They just can't afford that and said they were hoping things would get back to normal this year but things just seem to be getting worse. I really hope they get things under control this year I really miss my nephew he's a great kid with lots of ideas, intelligence and energy.

 

Ok this might sound like a dumb question but I've looked online and can't find anything about it. I was trying to find out in navy history why are the navy steer men referred as navy cocksmen, is it something like lovers of the sea?? Anyway I'd just like to know and some of the history if any. Been cutting up one of my ch46s I got a whole set from Japan ten in all. I really liked that helo and want to do a marine one. I'm disappointed it's not as detailed as the ch47 kit, that has a detailed interior and a reposable ramp, open or closed. The ch46 has no interior except for the flight deck and the ramp is molded closed. I wanna cut the ramp loose and make it able to open or close build a simple interior like the deck add seats most in the folded position add the fifty cal window gun add a 60 rear ramp gun maybe add some figures like pilots a few guys sitting in the seats a guy manning the fifty and maybe the 60. Need to find my rather expensive jeep so I can rework it and have it on the deck or on the ramp. I really wish I knew were that box was. My brother thought it would be nice to move my stuff out of the garage to the shed and I've been searching for stuff ever since and now that I'm temporarily disabled I haven't been able to do much in locating those missing miniatures. I have three two die cast one resin, one of the die cast has the utility trailer I think I should be able to scratch build a suitable 37mm antitank gun once I can scale down some plans of one. I wish Floyd would do a British tank set and an American set, for the Brits the matilda, crusader, and Valentine would really add to my collection, for the Americans the m3 light early and a m5 and a m24 there's resin ones but most I've seen are not crisps in detail and some look rather rough or overly detailed like the Ricky's look huge and not uniform. Need to figure out how to make good looking raised rivets the recessed rivets on planes look good but tanks raised just looks better.

Wow looks cold, my friend in Ohio wrote me saying it snowed pretty heavily for the first time this year. She said she was worried if she was going to be able to find salt said last year they couldn't find any at the regular stores like Walmart, Home Depot, lowes, and other regular outlets. Told her to use water softener salt if she can find any. I wonder if the counties are having problems getting salt deliveries for there sweepers and road salt trucks.

 

This is ridiculous I thought the governor and the LA mayor said they were going to get this mess taken care of well it's been weeks since they said that and it's not looking better. Looks like a wwii invasion fleet some of the ships have been waiting for weeks, wonder what the crews are doing.

Wow watching more about American war factories and how the ship industry went into high gear and ships that took years they built in months and some in weeks. The navy knew that they needed subs to help break the back of the Japanese as Japan had to bring in large amounts of food and war resources. They got the shipyards to mass produce the gato class they went to three a month to eight every three days. The navy lost 52 subs but the subs fleet sank over 1100 ships. And we were cranking out cargo ships to keep the supply line to Britain, Australia and Russia open says British was the lost vital as British had the largest merchant fleet in the world at the start of wwii and German ubiats sank 1300'british merchantmen in 1941 alone British was struggling wasn't that when the Germans were still slowly building subs and not building in a large scale because early in the war hitler wouldn't listen to his naval minister that subs were a valuable weapon he wanted him to build more battleships and battle cruisers. It took the naval minister a long time to get hitler to let him build subs more on a mass scale by then it was too late new sub hunting equipment like better hydrophones and sonar were developed and sub hunting tactics were greatly improved and the hunters were being hunted down at an alarming rate. Early most subs when out and came back with kills quickly later they just didn't comeback the sub service went from a prestigious service to one of almost a suicde force. If the escorts didn't get you anti sub air patrols did the use of aircraft for sub hunting got really good many boats were lots to bombs or depth chargesdropped by planes.
I know from stuff said about hitler he was really into war machines that were powerful. But even back in wwI the Germans were hurting the British with their subs sinking merchantmen so fast that few made it and companies were forced to offer triple wages to crews just to get enough men for the ships they had left. I wonder if they had to do the same in wwii.
One of the biggest things that really got the American ship yards cranking was the building of new larger yards and the force of 600 shipbuilders to 1.7 million. And working 24/7. It's amazing the workforce went from all men to mostly women as the military drafted most of the men for service all industries had no choice than to hire women to replace them. To get more women to work many companies started child care centers so women would be free to work also some factories had the women workers work a day in the child care to help with the war effort. Women did a lot for the war effort. Working in the war factories, growing victory gardens doing home canning so that stores didn't have to get large supplies oh can goods, most canning production went straight to the military as well as lots of different farm produce.
America was on a total war economy supervised by the government to assure that the needs of our troops was the priority. The creation of new industries was also a huge thing in the war effort, synthetic rubber, nylon basically synthetic silk for the mass production of parachutes as the silk trade was strangled by the Japanese controlling large portions of China and controlled most of the pacific around the Chinese mainland.
