Hello my names Steve and I'm from New York State. I've been interested in World War II and military history since I was 7 and learning about my relatives the have been veterans from my 3x Great-Grandfather who served in the Union Army in the US Civil War, my Great-Grandfather that served in the US Army during the Great War to my Grandfather that served in the US Army in Europe during the Second World War. I was also hoping some could help me find information on my Grandfather as I've been having a hard time of it. Funny thing is I've found out so easily about my 3x Great and Great Grandfather compared to my Grandfather.

Hi Steve. Welcome to our home. Tell us what you can; name, place of birth, year of birth, etc. We'll do our best to fill in what we can.

Hello, the most I've ever been able to find is this below, but this seems to be a re-enlistment as when you look at the section labeled source it states, "Enlisted man, Regular army, after 3 months discharge" which from my understanding means he served was discharged and re-enlisted.

What information do you have on your grandfather? Any photos, letters, etc?
Was he wounded or go through the VA?
Where did he live when he got out?

Not much to be honest he passed when I was 12. All I really know is that he was in the US Army in Europe during the tail end of the War. He lived in Brooklyn after the war. As for photos I posted them in a different thread.

If the date of birth is correct, it's hard to see how anyone barely 17 is reenlisting. Perhaps he was in the occupation force.

That would make the most logical answer. I just don't understand why in the one thing I found it states, Source: "Enlisted man, Regular army, after 3 months discharge" instead of "civilian". Also why for term of enlistment it states: Enlistment of Hawaiian Department when the pictures I have of him show snow and European looking buildings.

The circumstances might be more complicated than him spending all his time in one place. My first year in the USN I had five commands under my belt.

I was able to get my Grandfather's Final Payment form and was wondering if anyone knew what WD Cir 391 meant in the Hon. Disch. By Reason of box?
