    Well, helo pilots never show off, so it must be something else. There's a pix somewhere of much steeper terrain, so I'd say "practice time".

    Steeper, yes. But usually with the rear-end on nice flat ground & the front hanging over a cliff.

    Now, this Chinook rescue on Mount Hood, with the helicopter on mid-slope...That's some nice work.

    I've stepped from the rear of a moving riverine craft into a CH-47, while holding the smelly end of a litter. Good enough for that box to be ticked. (Yes, the helo was flying backwards at the time.)

    I had to add an Australian CH-47 - And found a bonus shot...CH-47D carrying a RAAF Mirage A3-36 with a couple of bonus F111s in the background...Just for Takao.

    No movie...The real deal.

    "Little Bears" of the "Tropic Lightning".
    UH-1Ds of the 25th Aviation Battalion(Little Bears), 25th Infantry Division(Tropic Lightning).
    Hence the insignia of the Little white bear holding a Lightning bolt.

    These are assembly ships and painted in highly visible colors and odd patterns on purpose. Their purpose was to allow the bombers in the group they were attached to to form up in formation at the proper location and altitude before the group headed off on its mission.
