While it's great to grow old it can also be a real bitch. Just found out a good friend - best buds since first grade died. My only consolation is I'm planning on living to be a thousand years old and remember all my friends forever.
I've only got two but I'm doing my best to teach them the finer things in life. Lessons on; Women, Beer, Fixin' things, Getting out of doing things, and basically how to get away without getting caught. That Woman thing ? They'll have to figure that out for themselves. It's been over 55 years I'm still stymied !
That’s pretty darn nice! And speaking of old, I consider my self old, 78. The older I get the less I can do, to be expected I suppose. But some days it hinges on the ridiculous. And I go to more funerals.
I just sold a 3 point hitch rear mount snowblower to a guy who is 88 ! He's thinking about hooking it up to his skid-steer. Knowing his history, he'll get er' done by next week.
My 84yo father-in-law got back today from a cruise. His wife died 10 weeks ago and he had taken care of her for over 20 years. She had been bed ridden for 10 yrs. He went by himself and did just what he wanted to do. My father is 83 and is getting married next week. My mom was sick for over 10 years and he took care of her 24/7 for about 5 years after her stroke, before she died last year. My father looks like he is about 70 and his bride-to-be is 75. They plan on doing a lot of glamping.
Trouble is, even a mini stroke can slow you up. And knock the balance off some. Make you buy a cane, ya know, the ones with the base that they can stand up by themselves. Blood thinners. Osteoarthritis is a bitch too. Passed from grandma to mom to me. Extra strength Tylenol and Valtorin gel. At least I drive good. If I drove like I walk, I wouldn’t be driving. Then again, I have an old dog too, but we love each other.
US Marines unable to defend Beer Can Regatta title as thousands flock to Darwin's Mindil Beach - ABC News Gotta giggle a little bit at the lilly white skinned Marines
I had my 13th* TIA a couple of weeks ago. Didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't (smack!) affect me much.
My dog is fourteen, that's 98 in dog years but she's still going strong. A bit unusual for a large breed, they have shorter life spans than small breeds.
My wife has had both knees worked on and both feet operated on so we've got enough medical supplies to stock a Third World hospital. Or enough to keep me in a walker, cane, compression wraps, those goofy footy things when you can't wear shoes, heat balm lotion and heat pads plus other essentials for when I'll need them. She walks several miles a day and built a rock wall a hundred yards long and a couple feet high. All I had to do was get the rocks to where she wanted the piles. Hurt my back just watching her. But I was always cheering her on and saying how great the walk was starting to look !
