I carefully positioned the pix so the bottom half didn't show and got my wife over to look at it. She totally bought into it until I scrolled down.
The model is extremely well done. The torpedo is wrong though. The boxed end shown was the Mk 13-6 version. At Midway, Torpedo 8 was still using the Mk 13-2 without that addition to the end of the torpedo...
8-T-14 would be George Gay, the sole survivor of Torpedo 8, and his gunner Bob Huntington, sadly lost.
Excellent job. I wonder if this model (Devastator) came with the option to have the wings in the folded or wings down positions? How is it suspended? Who makes it? The way the wing to wing root is, it reminds me of a Tamiya kit as that is the way their Corsair kit works, with that connector piece. And those pieces flying off the broken wing, I don’t see how that can be done, unless I am missing something. And the smoke?
The model is suspended by a wire running through the broken wing through the aircraft…there are no pieces unattached, some just look like they are. The smoke is just cotton wool…or a synthetic replacement.
Haha...I like you're thinking. Everyone watching hating you because they didn't think of it. See ya everyone!
