I saw "Wheels of terror" from 1987, starring David Carradine and Oliver Reed (in a tiny role), yesterday, and it was one of the worst pieces of crap I've ever seen. It starts with a unit from a German penal battalion driving around a German town during an air raid, in a tank that is clearly post-ww2! So pretty much the movie was ruined for me already after about a minute. But it gets even more absurd later on, for example the unit finds a Russian mine-dog chained to a tree in a Russian-occupied town way behind the frontlines, which I found moronic. Why on earth would the Russians have dogs running around with mines on their backs in their own back yard!? Near the front, where they might expect German tanks I can understand the use of mine-dogs, but in their own yard... beats the hell outta me!

Oh, and one last thing, the text on the back of the DVD begins with the line: "1941. The battle of Stalingrad is lost and the Germans are on retreat in the Russian forests..."

Not a very good movie, can't recommend it really :D

Please add your own experiences of bad WW2 movies, to spare others from the same mistakes

I suppose the original name was "The Misfit Brigade" but anyway I recall it as well as it was a bad movie...

Hell, I don't know, WW2 fims have been so rare lately that we should be grateful for anything we can find.

But no doubt that "Battle of the Bulge" with Spanish M-47s doubling as panzers and M-24s as Shermans, Telly Savalas, Henry Fonda, Robert Ryan and the rest certainly fits the bill as one of the worst, yuk!

I have to agree with you, LoW - I found a very cheap video copy of 'Wheels Of Terror' a few years ago ; it was awful ! [IMG]

I agree and I cannot believe that David Carradine and Oliver Reed were involved in this. Maybe they were both drunk?

in that case it definitely proves that people do stupid things when they drink (Oliver Reed actually looked kinda drunk for the whole 3 minutes he was on-screen... or like he was going to have nervous breakdown) :D

PEARL HARBOR! That is the WORST film EVER!

Uuuggg.... I wish they would leave the lousy love stories out of war movies they don't belong in them.

Pearl Harbor, these guys are so in need of a real history lesson it is unbelieveable...

    Early parts of the Film:

1.)First off they got their ages wrong from the Tennessee 1923 scene to the 1940 scene in New York state. If rafe was 7 in 1923 that would make him 24 in 1940 not 25 years old like they said, which thats a minor point granted.

2.) In the first scene the P-40's their utilizing are the wrong variants. Stateside P-40's in 1940 would have been either P-40B's or E's, not N's which didn't come onto the scene until 1942 I believe.

The thing that makes it even worse is that they continued on in their falsifing of the facts of history for the almighty buck.

    Battle Of Britain Scenes:

1.) When we first see Rafe at the RAF aerodrome the "Eagle Squadron" is flying Spitfres when during the time of the Battle of Britan they were flying Hurricanes. Not mention they hardly saw combat and engaged the Germans one time inwhich they lost one of their own in the process.

2.) Also in the same scene if you look closely the Spitfire dubbed RF M(Which Rafe is to fly later on) is taxiing on the grass tarmack toward the rear of the shot. However, as soon as Rafe is introduced to it two seconds later, its been sitting of the ground for a good while is shot hell.

    Pearl Harbor Scenes:

1.) Most of the ships in Pearl Harbor are modern.

2.) When the Japanese attack in their waves there is WAY too many aircraft for each wave.

3.) When the U.S.S. Oklahoma capsizes the ship didn't roll over 180 dregrees like in the film due to the tripod masts digging in the harbor bottom. It rolled about 60 degrees.

4.) During the film Rafe and Danny are taking off from Halewa Army Airfield when the two they're supposed to be mimicking Lt.'s Taylor and Welch too off from a remote airfield near Ewa.

5.) Rafe tells the mother of all lies while their hunkered down behind the sandbags at Halewa AAF "P-40's can't outrun Zeros so don't try"...Yeah, try tell the AVG that. The AVG used the speed factor to beat the Japanese Zeros in one-on-one combat. Thats one of the major advantages the P-40 had over the Zero was speed.

6.) Danny earlier in the movie calls their group when they arrive to airfield the "Terror's of the Sky." However when he does fly against the Japanese however...he can't fly for crap and he couldn't hit a dang thing when he was flying alongside of of Rafe fighting off the Japanese Zeros over Pearl.

7.) The dumbest part of the movie is when Rafe and Danny played chicken with the Zeros and Oscars(yes Oscars) over Pearl, which we all know wouldn't have happened and didn't happen.

    The Doolittle Raid Scenes:

1.) What can I say completely off, they're using the wrong variant B-25's, the wrong type of aircraft carrier.

What else can I say but, it IS THE WORST WAR FILM EVER MADE!

    Regards,
    MARNE

Do you mean you liked the scene when general von So-and-so brings the Waffens SS panzer colonel and reveals to him the super weapon he is going to win the war with, and shows him a large silver painted model of an M-47? My wife had to take me to the hospital after this one! :D :D :D

    "The Last Pannzer"

15 minutes into this epic thriller,I was ready to hurl the TV remote thru the screen.
What looks to be a platoon of GIs are scrambling
to take on 3 M47s[Tigers........they're always Tigers].
Looks to be a howitzer 'hidden'in camo. Captain standing 1 foot beside the muzzle with his binaculars...."Fire!" 1 Tiger destroyed. Eardrums
    shattered,too, I presume?
Did I mention the 3 Tigers are without infantry support?
Fast forward to a GI taking on one with his bazooka[frontal, mind you]and takes Tiger #2 out.
Tiger #3 turns to "run" and Captain knocks his track off with his Howitzer. All this with no GI casualities. Hooray for the USA!

'OK men, pack it in,we're moving forward" says Mr Captain.By this time, my finger is on the turn channel button. :D
The crew in Tiger #3 are peeping thru their slits as the GIs march by.

"Boy, that was a close one" says evil kraut Tiger captain."OK, men, lets take a track off one of the other tanks and repair our's".

But wait, here comes the only 2 survivors from the other crews. One is a newspaper reporter assigned to one of the Tigers.

I think they only made the Elsa movies for sexploitation reasons only. I heard they were pretty awful.

    "Memphis Belle"

I think the only 2 things done right in that movie was the date and the variant of the B-17. Other than that, the names were wrong, the mission was wrong, The Memphis Belle didn't take all that damage on her last bomb run, they make every character aboard seem to have a flaw (Val forges his doctrine in medicine, Phil's an alcoholic, Luke is a cry-baby wanna be pilot, Dearborn is just a tight wad, Virgil's just there, Rascal's a perver, Dennis is a laid back poet phoney, Gene and Jack are complete opposites and well Clay is just there. Despite having NO relation to the real person they portray and the entire movie being a complete waste of a history lesson, it was a great way to see inside a B-17 in color, etc.

Is this the one that was supposedly based on the Sven Hassel book, I think I saw it as a kid but really can;t remember if it was as bad as you think, might have to try and find it again.

To each his own, but "Memphis Belle" would'nt be classified as a worst movie to me. A military buff could pick it apart for not being actual but for the average "joe", it showed just what a mission aboard a B-17 was like.IMO.

Pearl Harbor in my book. WWII wasn't a romantic story. I despise The Thin Red Line as well.
