Hi David--thats a nice Hamburg Hanseatic Cross--it looks like a later made piece, but I cant tell for sure. If you dont mind me asking but, from whom did you get it from and what did you pay for it? I got my Hamburg and Lubeck Crosses from Detlev--both made of silver--so they are the earlier made pieces. I paid Detlev I thik $35.00 for the Hamburg and $40.00 (as part of a 2 place medal bar with a 1914 Ek2) for $45.00. I got my Breman Cross from Weitze for $40.00. My Breman is also an early piece. Hi Carl, I got it from a dealer in Auckland (here in NZ), I paid $120 NZ for it, about what I expected to pay here. Wow, you did get good prices!
120 NZ eh? If thats about $60.00 US Dollars--thats a bit high but not too bad--at any rate--glad you have a nice Imperial piece.
Hello David--yep--I paid somewhere between $35-40 dollars for it--not including shipping which I think was $5.00. $110.00 for a HINDENBURG CROSS???? thats wayyyyyy outrageous. You cna get them for as low as $5.00 from Detlev and Weitze. Heck--if I can find the one I have --i'll give it to you.
Hindenburgs for $35.00 is still way too high--tho I briefly considered buying one mares as being made by C.E.Junker--but that money was better spent as part of the funds that went to getting my L/19 Iron Cross 1st Class. $100-110 for a 2 place medal bar with the ek2 and Hindenburg Cross is waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooo highhhhhh, at most that should be under $50.00

David--I wouldnt waste time or money with this dealer--all his prices are double and some are triple what you would par here in the USA and even 4-5 times more than what you would pay for most of this stuff if you got it from Germany. WMC 1st class cased ahould only be about $130-$150 on the high end. WMC 1st w/o case about $100-$120. WMC 2nd average $30-$45. The only reason I picked up a WMC 2nd is because it had an unusual fold to its ribbon--the so-called Austrian style fold--or Tri-fold. I think I paid $40 to $45 for it--which I thought was a bit steep but--I got it from an Antique mall in San Antonio the day Gary bought his Bronz Panzer Assault Badge--I think he paid $90. War Cross of Honor a.k.a. (The Hindenburg Cross) most variations no more than $10-$20 and only $20 if has a makers mark. Non combatant cross maybe $25. and Next of Kin cross maybe $30. His Spanish Cross price is at least 4 times higher than it should be. 13 march 1938 medal is about $40 too high. Dont know what item 52/0674 is. 1 Oct 1938 medal is an ok price but still on the high end. Both West wall medals are priced $15-$20 too high. Frozen meat Medal is about $30 too high. I have one only because im good friends with the man who it was presented to--he was a Leutnant in the Heer Artillery that served on the Eastern Front. He gave me his medal about 2 yrs or so ago. Its a nice one--black/Dk blue center--and silvered edging. Gold Wound badge is at least $125 too high--you can get them at Carsten baldes for from $110-$150. Silver wound badge is wayyyyyy tooo high. I got one that is solid back that I got from a friend in Germany--This one isnt mint but is in very nice condition with almost sll of its silver finish intact--I paid $40.00. You can get ones in the same condition as mine for about $60. All his Black wound badges are way too high. You can get mint ones for $30. Group of five is way too high--more like maybe about $250. Group of four should only be about $80. They are all very common awards--nothing special and this is a post war made medal bar--probably made in the early 1920s for a vet belonging to a vets Organization. Next group of four maybe about $140. 1st group of three should be about $80. 2nd group of three should be about $100. 3rd group of three should be about $80. The pair should be no more than $50--and about $10 less if the pair isnt together as a medal bar. The hubby and wife set about $200 being a complete set with accompanying docs. Sorry to blast this dealer--but there are too many wellknown ones out there that you can get better deals from.
