Hey guys, Its been about 3 months since I could get online but I should be able to post regularly for now. I hope everything is going well for everyone. I will post my address is anyone wants to drop me a line sometime. How is Friedrich doing? Last I heard he was sick. I will post pictures from time to time. I am currently at Bagram Air Force Base which used to be a Russian air base during their war with Afghanistan. There are still burned out Migs and tanks laying around along with plenty of minefields. I will post again later.

Hi Steve, and many thanks for checking in !

Friedrich is OK and is currently involved in an opera-singing tour of USA/Canada.

Keep up the good work & take care to keep away from weird stuff such as that which just occurred in Kosovo....

Hi Steve, glad to see you here. I'l be glad to drop a card in the mail--providing they don't get lost like what happened when I attempted to send Bish a box last year.

Hi Steve! Good to see you back here! I had no idea you were out there! STAY SAFE (as can be, of course).

Are you anywhere near the Dutch Apache unit down there?

And Fried is doing alright, as Martin says. He's back to his old self and can't be shut up! :D

Stay in touch and let us know how things are going out there.

    Here's one for you [IMG]

Very, very glad to hear from you, Steven! ;) I'm happy that you're fine. Hope you will be back at home safely as soon as possible. ;) Meanwhile, you could do a bit of Soviet-Afgano war research , so we can discuss it later! [IMG]

And as you can see, I'm pretty fine. Last year I had some health problems but it seems it's all over now. Thanks for worrying.

And I'll send you a card as well! Thanks for providing us the adress!

Exactly! :D Hey! After someone cuts your skull in half and chops everything in-there you kind of get some secondary effects such and not shuting up, being more stubborn, more sarcastic, Historymania increases and a tick in the cheek...

    Take care, Steve! [IMG]

Hi guys, Glad to hear all is well with everyone. Friedrich, glad you are doing better. Stevin, there is a Dutch unit here but I dont know which one. Right now there are about 13 differnt countries here so I pretty much see it all. You will never see such a wide variety of vehicles and weapons in one place. Shall post again later. For anyone who is interested you can send a US Flag to have flown here at a unnamed area of the post. It will fly for 9 days and eleven hours (911). Just pay for shipping to and from here and I will be glad to have it flown for you. It will come with a certificate stating that it flew in the face of the enemy.

Steve, that sounds liek a great idea. Hop0efully I can buy one to send sometime as I would love to have a flag that faced the sandy enemy.

I think I will spread the word about this locally.

Hey Steve, it's good to see you back on the Forums!

Thank you for offering to fly flags over Bagram for us. Is there anything we can send to YOU (in addition to return postage for the flag) along with a flag? Books, magazines, CDs (country? rock?, ???), food, etc?

By the way, I've posted an item in another thread which I thought might be of interest to you or Vyacheslav or maybe some of your buddies: NEA Project Helps Troops Write About Wartime Experiences.

    Take care Steve!

Deep Web Diver, Thanks for offering. I dont like to ask for things but I will tell you things that are in short demand. The PX doesnt carry Ford car (Mustangs) magazines only Chevy and import for some reason. I am also looking for a song called "Letters from home" by John Michael Montgomery. Cigs arent always in stock (Marlboro Box). Food is good but chocolate and chips wont survive the trip (melted and broken). As I said I wont ask for anything but these are things that would be greatly appreciated.

    You're welcome Steve!

I wonder if food shipped in a popcorn tin might survive the trip better?

Here is the official US Army shipping test, Box it up then kick it down a flight of stairs then run over it with a jeep. If it survives that your good to go. :D

Steve, you can post images here as long as they are online somwhere.

First, take the URL for your photos: http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/57379main_MM_image_feature_152_jw4.jpg

Second, add the code for images: [IMG]

Third, past the link between the code for images:
[IMG] but do not leave blank spaces the way I just did

    Fourth: Enter your post

Fifth: You can also use the "image" button which appears on screen when you compose a message.

Steve, for how long will you be in Afgan?

I just got a flag, pretty decent size, if I say so myself, and I am getting a package together. But I wanna be sure you are still out there when it gets there.... :D

Great to hear from you again Steve! I've been following this thread for a while, and it's good to hear everything is OK with you.

Probably the best way to post pics is to email them to me, and I can then put them online for you. [IMG]

    Keep us updated man...
