Anyone catch this disturbing program on "FX" last night (US)? It's a faux-documentary movie about a 2002 terrorist attack using smallpox. A single terrorists (they don't say who) infects himself and just walks into around the Wall Street area, takes a subway up to Grand Central Station. The disease spreads geometrically from tens to thousands. In the end millions of people die all over the world. A realistic and sobering portrayal of the events.

That ol' "kremlin complexion" - a real vain SOB! He's lucky to have survived - 1 in 3 usually die.

At the age of seven Stalin contracted smallpox, he survived but his face was permanently scarred for the rest of his life and other children cruelly called him "pocky."

    Interesting point II:

During the great Indian war of 1763, known as "Pontiac's War," the British distributed smallpox-infested blankets among the Senecas, Mingos, Delawares, Shawnees, Wyandots, Miamis, and Ottawas, touching off an epidemic that devastated the western tribes.

It has also been claimed that the U.S. government distributed blankets infected with the virus during the infamous "Trail of Tears". I have never seen proof of this in any credible research. However, smallpox did have a devestating effect on the native population of the Americas.

No,I missed that show.I was watching "Goldfinger", an excellent James Bond epic. Goldfinger was to take over Fort Knox by crop-dusting any security guards with poison gas. Sorry, I don't get caught up in all the 'terrorist-hype'.With all the thousands of dead/homeless from the Tsunami, the terrorists just keep on killing and killing.

I wonder if anyone on the forum knows of a web site that gives "home remedies" for a biological or chemical attack. I know you are supposed to take iodine for nuclear exposure but I don't know where you get it unless you eat lots of salt.
Did the TV show say what to do if this really happened ? Seems to me the US government could do more to inform people of how to take care of theirselves. I heard on the news today how the airline pilots are complaining about the lack of information from the government on the laser attacks they have experienced the last few months.

    TA152,

this was a big topic over here with the Chernobyl accident, and if I remember correctly, over here the local authorities should have the tablets to be given if such accident should occur. I do think it is also possible to buy the iodine tablets at the local Pharmacy if you want to be sure you got them.

TA 152 - the film discussed an attack in 2002 - before the arrival of enough vaccine for everyone - apprarently, when you have to be vaccinated w/i three to four days of exposure or the disease will break out - - I'm not going to post any pictures - it gives me the willies :(
There is an antidote for sarin gas - but if the exposure is severe - you have to administer it PDQ.
Cypro or other antibiotics treat Anthrax
