This tap budvar is very good... a czech lady told me that this is to be the ''real'' budweiser. In fact, the real or not...it is very good, and back here in Canada we only have an imitation of this budvar. Lucky you
I'll have to tell my friend up in Virginia about this. He has a friend who is a beer conneiseur. He has tasted over 8,500 beers around the world. He is serious about it. He tastes them, writes each one of the up, and then rates them 1-5. He just recently made a batch of double bock with his own label for the Lent season. Bob
Happy St. Patrick's day, speaking of beer- hope everyone hoists a pint in celebration! (Some VERY cool Ferdinand/Elephant stuff coming, once I'm sober again!) On the beer- if anyone see's anything from Urthel- for example- BUY IT. Buy all of it the store has. Unbelievable brewery.
Yes! Budvar is Nectar of the Gods! A wonderful beer. In my opinion, it ranks right up there with Pilsner Urquell! A very good beer to drink when you're drinking more than one!
Everyone in the UK Budget day this Thursday and you know what that means time to stock up on the beer before it goes up in price again.
Heh- Historian, I actually met the Urthel Head Brewer last night here in boston- Hildegard Van Ostaden. She was doing a small promo-type event at Publick House (BEST beer bar in the boston area)- two fresh kegs of Urthels, tons of glassware, which I got two of , and basically just a bunch of beer-people hanging out. Very friendly woman, and DAMN can she brew some good stuff- one of the kegs was the Urthel Quadruple Ale, the "Samaranth". Unbelievable stuff. 11.5% alcohol, but I'll tell ya- this is one of the smoothest, easy drinking brews I've come across. Nice smooth malt flavor, enough hops to give it some bite and aroma, and some combination of spices and other "mystery ingredients" that turns out a simply amazing brew. The tag-line for Urthel is "Belgium's newest cult beer"- but quite a few people are also starting to refer to Urthel as "Belgium's best craft brewery" Course, there was a problem with the night... we got home early, and I planted myself on the couch to plow through some more of The Combat History of the 653rd Heavy Anti-Tank Battalion... The wife woke me up a couple hours later.
Yessir- especially since it drinks like a beer with 5-7%. Minimal alcohol overtones, very smooth and tasty. But then again... if the wife is driving...
Well, I've drunk my last pint in a pub. From 6AM tomorrow, Scotland's quasi-Communist government have made it illegal to smoke in an enclosed public place. Some anal-retentive non-entities have interpreted that as meaning you can't smoke in a public park either. Presumably they don't mind junkies shooting up in parks, just don't smoke! Pubs were absolutely full tonight, and everyone was of the same opinion-the only people to show a profit from tomorrow will be off-licenses. Never mind 'New York did this'; Americans are used to being dictated to on health grounds, so 'passive smoking' (you know; the public health hazard which there isn't actually any MEDICAL evidence to prove!) is just one more paranoia for them to endure. So well done, all the pretentious middle-class scum who forced this law through. When the economy goes down the tubes, you can't blame Maggie Thatcher this time; it's YOUR fault! Now....who do I see about emigrating to a country where Left-wing politics are illegal?
You all better start reconsidering drinking alcohol in bars to. This from The People's Republic of Texas. http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=oddlyEnoughNews&storyID=2006-03-22T230530Z_01_N22388344_RTRIDST_0_OUKOE-UK-BARS.XML Later
