Fabrice Muamba remains in critical condition in intensive care

Bolton's Fabrice Muamba is critically ill and will remain in intensive care until at least Monday morning.

The midfielder, 23, was taken to London Chest Hospital's heart attack centre after suffering a cardiac arrest during Saturday's FA Cup tie at Tottenham.

A joint statement from the club and hospital on Sunday at 1100 GMT said: "Fabrice Muamba remains in a critical condition in intensive care.

"As is normal, he remains anaesthetised and will be for at least 24 hours."

The statement added: "Fabrice received prolonged resuscitation at the ground and on route to The London Chest Hospital, where his heart eventually started working. His condition continues to be closely monitored by the cardiac specialists."

Liverpool lost to Wigan at home 1-2! Ouch! City played 1-1 with Stoke. Arsenal keeps winning 3-0 against Aston Villa last night.

Manchester City dropped two vital points in the Premier League title race despite a rousing late fightback in a 3-3 draw with Sunderland.

Mario Balotelli's second goal of the afternoon and a powerful Aleksandar Kolarov strike inside the last five minutes at the Etihad Stadium earned City a draw but it was not enough to take them back top.

Sunderland had powered into a 3-1 lead with two goals from Sebastian Larsson and a fine header from Nicklas Bendtner.

From that position, City would ordinarily have been pleased with a draw - which preserved their unbeaten home record - but arch-rivals Manchester United now have a huge advantage and could go five points clear on Monday.

    The incredible Messi:

BBC Sport - Barcelona's Lionel Messi goes past 60-goal mark for the season

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has become the first European top-flight player in almost 40 years to score 60 goals in a season.

The Argentine scored two goals in the 4-1 La Liga win over Real Zaragoza on Saturday, as they cut the gap on table topping Real Madrid to three points.

The 24-year-old is now seven goals behind Gerd Muller's all-time record for goals in a season.

The German legend netted 67 times for Bayern Munich in the 1972-73 campaign.

    ------------------

David Platt has admitted that the Premier League title is Manchester United's to lose.

But the Manchester City assistant manager told BBC Radio 5 live that they will be ready to pounce if their Old Trafford neighbours do slip up.

He said: "The title is theirs to lose but if they do drop points we have to be in a position to take advantage."

United, with a five-point lead and seven games left, host QPR at 1330 BST Sunday before City play at Arsenal.

Roberto Mancini has admitted he will "probably" sell Mario Balotelli this summer after the striker lost the plot at The Emirates on Sunday.

Manchester City boss Mancini also appeared to suggest Balotelli would not play again for him this season, although the club later claimed he said that because he expected the Football Association to throw the book at the controversial 21-year-old.

Balotelli will serve a ban of at least three matches after his dismissal in Easter Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Emirates Stadium - and Mancini seemed to call on the FA to take further action against his own player for a knee-high challenge on Alex Song that went unpunished.

Asked for how long he could put up with Balotelli's antics, Mancini said: "I am finished. We have six games and he will not play in the next six games."

Carlos Tevez scored a stunning hat-trick as Manchester City turned up the heat on leaders Manchester United with a 6-1 victory at Norwich.

Tevez, who famously went AWOL in Argentina for four months after refusing to warm up against Bayern Munich, is now well and truly back to his best and could yet have a decisive say in this title race with his former employers.

    -----------

Gonzalo Higuain says Real Madrid face "five finals" between now and the end of the season as they bid to fend off Barcelona in La Liga.

Last night's strikes by Higuain, Ronaldo and Benzema saw Madrid equal their 107-goal record haul in La Liga, and assistant coach Aitor Karanka used that statistic as ammunition against those who still accuse coach Jose Mourinho of employing defensive tactics.

"People say Mourinho has a defensive style, but 107 goals isn't all that bad," said Karanka.

El Classico today, Barca vs Real Madrid. What a match it´s gonna be. Both sides need to win, as the team who gets full points is quite probably winning the Spanish league title. Incredible considering that Real had 10 points´ lead a month ago.

Real took the points on Saturday and seems to be winning the league. Today it´s Barca vs Chelsea. Could this be another setback for Barca? Personally I would not put my money on Barca losing but it´s going to be a very interesting match tonight.

Great match! Chelsea made it to the final and lovely finishing goal by Torres. Bad luck for Barca but Messi could have settled it with his penalty kick.

Manchester City moved to the top of the Premier League after a deserved 1-0 victory over derby rivals United at the Etihad Stadium.

Vincent Kompany's winner in first-half stoppage time means that if City win their final two games - at Newcastle on Sunday and at home to QPR on the last day - they will be crowned champions for the first time since 1968.
    ---------------------

Roy Hodgson has ended his 15-month spell in charge at the Hawthorns to become England's new head coach in succession to Fabio Capello with a four-year contract confirmed on Tuesday.

City takes the Premier league victory on Saturday?!

Yaya Toure is setting his sights on sustained success after firing Manchester City to the brink of a first league title in 44 years.

The Ivory Coast international's double edged City past Newcastle on a key afternoon on Tyneside to leave them needing to beat struggling QPR at home next Sunday to end their long wait.

    ----------

Lille playmaker Eden Hazard has hinted that he will be playing for Manchester City next season.

And when Canal+ mischievously asked whether Hazard prefers red or blue, the question drew a non-committal response from the Belgium international.

"I like both," he replied. "They're both nice colours. I think they both suit me.

"It's the blue that I'll be wearing next season. Definitely the blue."

    City wins Premier title!

    TEAMtalk | Football | Match | Report | Barclays Prem | Manchester City v Queens Park Rangers | 13th May 2012

A quite incredible season ended in the most stunning way possible, with City snatching victory from the jaws of what seemed certain to become the most disastrous defeat imaginable.

Second-half goals from Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie, either side of a ridiculous Joey Barton red card, seemed to have turned the entire season on its head.

It all looked to be in vain as the game entered five minutes of stoppage time.

Even the celebrations at Dzeko's leveller, when there were under four minutes left, were muted.

But when Aguero scored his 30th - and by far the most important and dramatic - goal of the season 120 seconds later, the roof came off the Etihad Stadium.

given the prize for victory, got to be one of the most sensational last five minutes of a football match that I can recall ! Dzeko's goal was timed at 90 minutes ...and with the win required, that still wasn't good enough to win the title...I'm pleased for City in a way ..but after spending millions of ££££ on building their team , anything less would have been a disaster...

Quite boring match last night between Bayern and Chelsea except for the last ten minutes of actual playing time, and then Chelsea won the penalties. Anyway, congrats on winning the European Champion´s trophy,Chelsea! Di Matteo will not be coaching the team next year, I presume, although did wonders there.

Borussia Dortmund insist they are still to finalise a deal with Manchester United for Shinji Kagawa - though the switch should go through soon.

It is widely reported that the two clubs are set to agree terms on a deal worth an initial £12million rising to £17million.

Kagawa himself is also yet to agree personal terms, but that looks unlikely to be a barrier to the 23-year-old Japanese midfielder sealing a move to Old Trafford.

    ---------

Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen is looking forward to seeing Belgium compatriot Eden Hazard strut his stuff in the Premier League next season.

The 21-year-old all but ended months of speculation over his future earlier this week by revealing he would leave French club Lille for Chelsea.

While a deal is yet been confirmed by either club Hazard, considered one of the best young talents in Europe, is almost certain to join the Champions League winners ahead of reported interest from both Manchester City and United.
