Hope the Holland players were replaced to secure they could play in the tournament! Anyway, sad to see any country play rough in a FRIENDLY GAME, I think someone even got the red card straight away. You know, that is something like declaring war to others and I´m sure players like Kewell will have to watch his back from now on even more carefully. I have always liked the Australian players in Europe and believe I will in the future as well. But it might be your players next time that limp out of the field Ali....
Well, I don't know....One or two a team and they seem to behave, but put them together in a national team and it all Aussie football again! Yes, Hiddik is Dutch and although I thought they played quite rough for a friendly game, the Australian team deserve their kudos. They did well. The team stoof positionally as a brick house...or wall....Kept the spaces small. I look forward to kicking some aussie butt when the tournament really starts... Means that you should make it through the 1st fase...and WIth germany in the pool...there is a chance! I don't think Kewell played. I like him as a player. Brett Emmerton played for Feyenoord and jason Culina plays in Holland for I don't know how long....Yes, there was direct card, which was just deserved in my opinion, although the ref was not one of th ebest in any case.
BTW, great result with the EUFA Under 21's Stev . The Dutch rebuild started a few years ago really seems to be paying dividends. World Cup in 4 years - although this year isn't settled yet No.9
Yes, congrats Stevin on the U21 victory! And it´s that man Huntelaar again...should be in the national team in my opinion! Looks like the new van Basten if not better (?!)....

Definatly not the American Game. 1 week out from the World Cup, many are playing for their spot in the Team. The Dutch go away complaining about the Aussies being too rough, morale down 50%. Australia comes away with the knowledge they can match with a world powerhouse (beating England back a bit doesnt count)Morale plus 50% If you want an easy game, play Groningen Under 10's, but watch out for their tackling. And it was a second Yellow, not a straight Red. And for the last 30 minutes they held out what was supposedly a superior team. And Germany isnt in our Pool, we only worry about Japan, Croatia and somewhere called Brazil??
Passport D-day for soccer hooligans More than 3,000 English football hooligans were required to hand over their passports to police by 5pm on Tuesday to prevent them travelling to the World Cup. The deadline was set for 3,286 people currently subject to football banning orders, who were required to submit their travel documents at their local police station. They will also be required to attend a police station each time England play during the tournament. A huge security operation will also be launched at UK ports and airports ahead of the tournament and police have a watchlist of fans who are not subject to banning orders but against whom they have intelligence. Bryan Drew, head of the UK Football Policing Unit, said officers would use all powers available to them to stop high risk supporters leaving the country. "We've put a lot of effort into working with our German colleagues to say let's get this right," he told BBC Radio Five Live. Police hope banning orders will prevent the hard core of hooligans from travelling to Germany, although hundreds of orders have lapsed over the last year and those fans will be able to go. Those who are subject to banning orders and who fail to comply with travel restrictions could face six months in jail and fines of up to £5,000. And Crown Prosecution Service lawyers will be travelling to Germany to liaise with local courts when English trouble-makers are charged. They will send back paperwork from German police stations and courts which will be used to obtain banning orders when convicted fans return home. http://news.excite.co.uk/uk/6351 ---------- Read that some 200 have not left their passports and several of them have been arrested...
Just a couple of hours and the games start! Soccer funny photos: http://sportzfun.com/v-web/gallery/slideshow.php?set_albumName=soccer
Although I do watch and like soccer it's not really THAT big of a sport here in "south georiga" I know it's a far cry that the US will win out-right, but, how big of a chance do you guys think they have of winning group E? And more specificly of winning against the Czech Republic today?
Well, blew it is a big word...The Czechs are serious contenders for the title in my opinion. Too bad Koller went off injured. It looks like the tournament is over for him.
No Ali, now its serious, the gloves can come off and I hope the socceroos will show their...euh...'best' side against the Italians....A injury or two there never goes amiss...
Unfortunately Stevin, the US didn't show too much versus the Czechs today, and they probably won't do much better versus the Italians. Both Italy and the Czech Republic looked very strong. First place is important in this Group E, as the team that comes in 2nd place will face the winner of Group F, which is the Brazil group...
Thanks Stevin, You assume we'll go through to the next round. We may run into the Czechs instead. Sadly Dutch & British look like they will struggle though, the USA showed how poor the FIFA ratings are. Which "Major" Country will be the first to get the chop, Poland hasnt started well!
The Swedish team seems like struggling at the moment- at least from the inside. You never know though, the problems sometimes only make the team stronger... Anyway, even though Germany won 4-2 I did not like the speed of the German defenders. A really fast man like Thierry Henry could truly be through all the while... The Czechs are truly a world class team. You check the names on paper and they all are top names in European football. Hard to say once you´re down 2-0 what you need to do, try to get back in the match or start concentrating on the next games when you face a team like the Czechs?? I mean trying to make your team attack more against them does not sound too inviting really. The next match will decide much on many teams like the USA, Poland... BTW, Autralia made a grat comeback in the final minutes of the game...
Brazil beating Croatia 1-0... Ronaldo did not look good but then again neither did Adriano. A clever goal from Kaka the kind of which he has done "alot", I guess. Croatia created very good scoring possibilities and surprisingly close to the end they didn´t start kicking the opposite´s players instead of the ball.
Well, I though Brazil were poor Kai, then in general I think they are always over-rated and personally sick of the slobbering platitude mantra British TV presenters invariably chant. They were lucky not to have drawn. Though a number of teams who have won the Cup actually started the tournament in unspectacular fashion, I have little confidence with Italy this year. They won the first game but there’s no cohesion in the back four, and it appears they still think Del Piero can be run out to score on demand . If the ‘laid back’ attitude emerges – again - , they can end up drawing with USA then having to wake-up against the Czechs. Alternately, if things go to plan and they get 3 points off the US, they’ll probably sit back against Czecho. Actually, I hope they do get Brazil in the next round. No.9 ps. I did say watch out for the Swiss
