    Campaign Guidelines

Here is a few points about the game to make my life as Umpire a little easier.

Every month will have two turns. We start in Turn 2 August 1939. Thus when the game starts people will write orders for what they wish their diplomats and forces to do during the end of August. You will then receive back any info that these actions generate and you will then write orders for Turn 1 September 1939 and so on. Each Turn will also see newspaper headlines and other bits of gossip.

There will be a set time limit on returning your orders, and this has to be adhered to. Usually within a week-ten days of receiving your updates.

As stated before, your orders must have some argument to back them up. The more you supply as info the better your actions will be carried out. But it is really up to you how much you want to put in, but with Matrix games you get out what you put in!!! I do not expect you to list every unit invading Iceland, but some description of what you send will help your cause!

I intend to run the game with a series of events that will occur alongside those generated by other players. This will be to cause mayhem, misdirection, international incidents and possibly world wars. These events will merely be the background to the campaign and perhaps inject a note of humour now and then!

Remember, this is politics not just war. Anyone who has played the game Diplomacy will have an idea as to what I mean. Powerful allies can be very helpful, but remember, that Panzer Division coming to help may turn out to be invading.

All correspondence in game terms must go through me. I need to know what alliances are formed and who is doing what. I will pass on messages to other nations with the reports. Send in your messages to other nations with your orders. Also send in any press releases that you wish to make and these will be included in the Headlines.

Finally anything goes. If you can justify it, you can do it. Besides the military aspect, don’t forget diplomacy, espionage, research, industry…

All orders should be emailed to...

    piersbrand@msn.com

I have set this account up for the campaign or you can PM them but email would be best.

I assume you will be sending each country/player its starting info? AKA starting units, economics, etc...

And how detailed will the tech-tree be? Individual types of units? (tanks = Panzers, Tigers, etc,) or level of tech?

To Mussolini, nope. As Supreme leader it is your job to decide what you need in order to conduct your orders. You must prove that you have the capabilities for the task... My role as Umpire will be to collate all the orders, write return briefings and provide the narrative interaction for you all. Kinda Role play world war two.

    To Fried..

Yup just like that, when the game starts include such press releases in your orders and they will go on my list with the ones that I will be writing. As it is an order you will require a reason to sack and replace a commander, but it is your right as supreme commander to do so, so I cant imagine there being too much trouble...

    Something like this?

Le Figaro, Paris, August 2nd 1939.

"Général Gamelin replaced by Général Weygand as C.-in-C. Conscription introduced in Colonies"

I think Carl von Mannerheim will have to do a lot of explaining for the assassination of Franklyn Roosevelt. [IMG]

Yup but you need to state why you wish to replace him, IE he is too old and unfit for duty

and to introduce conscription in the Colonies you could justify it by saying that you do not wish to worry the public at home and as a reaponse to foriegn threats... Wont make you too popular with your colonies though...
