Courier-Post: S.J. man finds English relative through letters, 12-01-03

William McDonnell's genealogical research led him to five deceased cousins - William, Charles, Leonard, Alfred and Walter Stewart - all of whom were brothers and all of whom were killed during the First World War. Brothers in Blood, a documentary about the Stewart brothers, will be broadcast in England on December 28th.

Henry Abrams, a veteran of the US Army's segregated 9th Cavalry, a recipient of France's National Order of the Legion of Honor medal, and a soldier of the Great War has passed away at the age of 107.

Julius Hausold, an American veteran of the Great War, will turn 108 on December 31st.

 

Thanks for this 'ol man. It's sad that there are only a few hundred ww1 vets still living but I am glad for every single one of them.

Thanks for that as well Crapgame. I cought a bit of that on the news ticker that is annoyingly displayed at the bottom of the screen, but had missed seeing his name. A few days earlier, a vet who was 108 passed away as well--I have no toher details on him either.
