I'm doing a little research on a particular member's website. Stevin runs http://www.basher82.nl, a really great website about fallen allied soldiers in the Netherlands. He runs the website out of his home computer and he's been having some problems with people visiting his site. According to Stevin, More and more internet providers are block access to, what they call, un-identified servers like his. Unfortunately many providers see his type of server as a potential spam or DoS-attack risk. The number of visitors to his site has been steadily declining over the last year.

I'd like as many of you as possible to visit http://www.basher82.nl and post here whether or not you can get through or if you get a "page not found" or "connection timeout" problem, which means you are blocked. I'd also like you to post where in the world you are, and what service you use to access the web so we can get a general idea of the blocking. Any and all help would be great.

    I'll start:

Server Status: blocked "The connection has timed out"
    Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA
    Service: Comcast Cable

I tried it from work and the site worked without problem. My router hub for work is the US Department of Justice in Washington DC.

Thanks for all the help gentlemen, I think we are starting to get a clearer picture of what's going on with Stevin's server. So the current results are:

    Otto: no
    jacobtowne: yes
    kerem: no
    Von Poop: no, then yes
    Fortune: yes
    Martin Bull: no
    Kai-Petri: yes
    Ali Morshead (work): yes
    Ali Morshead (home): yes
    TA152: yes
    Richard42: yes
    Za Rodinu: no
    Sloniksp: yes
    raj-rif: no
    T. A. Gardner: yes

That means we have 9 people that can get through, 5 that can't, and 1 more who had trouble, then got through later. Not very good at all. [IMG] Any one else taking a look would be helpful.
