U-boot in Danish water found

anyone have further info on this from the Danish newspapers ? ....... taken from another forum

After 12 years search, four danish sports divers, last week found the wreck of the German submarine U 2359, witch were sunk by british moskito bombers, may the second, 1945, near the danish island "Læsø".
Until last week, U 2359 was the only missing german ww2 submarine wreck in danish waters, witch hadn't been found.

 

I guess this is the best so far in English...

thank you Kai for the interesting link and the copy which I have done on the translation. have you heard anything about this in Finland at all ?

do wonder what will happen if it will be protected if it can be, raised up or left as a memorial. as they said it is the only one left in the world even though it is a sunken hulk

 

Unfortunately missed it the first time around but I suppose the papers had some more important news at the time...though I cannot figure what that could be...

 

would you post any findings here on this thread later please and any pics that any of the divers might - may take if possible from the news ?

Amazing Ihope they can at least save some of the wreckage, it would be a shame to loose it again, but this time against time

 

I suppose they need to get decent camera equipment to get photos of the wreck....so far did not find anything about the wreck itself other than what we already have.

REVIEW FOR APRIL AND MAY 1945 - ANTI U-BOAT DIVISION OF THE NAVAL STAFF. 20 MAY 1945


Between the 1st and 9th May, when the German surrender became effective, 13 U-Boats were probably sunk and there were five promising attacks. Sixteen of the incidents occurred in Danish waters, aircraft operating with great effectiveness against U-Boats attempting to escape to Norway. A great achievement by the Home Fleet was the destruction of the U-Boat ship " Black Watch " at Harstad by aircraft from H.M. Ships " Searcher," " Queen " and " Trumpeter," a U-Boat alongside being probably sent to the bottom at the same time. On the 6th, the last attack on shipping in American waters was followed by the probable destruction of the U-Boat by U.S.S. " Atherton."
