I'd say it's Australian as the hull overall looks similar to the HMAS Sydney. At least in my opinion.
With single guns she's not a Hunt. She does look a lot like a Grimsby but has one mast too many for HMS Swan. EDIT: So my first guess is HMAS Yarra. there's a pic of her with two masts and the extended gun platform for "B" mount. EDIT AGAIN: Found confirmation !! http://www.navy.gov.au/w/index.php/HMAS_Yarra_%28II%29
You got it. I had been reading of her rescue of 1800 men from the burning Empress of Asia. Not sure where all the men were put, but desprite times......
Tried to find a very "non Leander looking" picture of one of that class, but nothing came up so ... this is not a Leander . View attachment 12342
HMS Vindictive about 1937 reduced to training ship. The aft two boilers are removed and the main armament reduced to two 4.7" guns (Hawkins class cruiser).
HMS Vindictive is correct. Always found it trange how this class of unlucky (two were lost to shipwreck) and generally not very succesfull (the RN didn't really know what to do with them) cruisers shaped naval history as the "Washington treaty" cruiser limits were mostly based on them. Your go chief.
It has been more than one week since the last answer. SO does that mean anyone can post a pic? Just asking..
use basic uploader click browse goto your pictures highlight one and that sould work View attachment 12432 and then you have it
Terry, the up loader is having some issues as of the moment. You would have to use an uploading site like photo bucket. Click the insert image/from url/unclick retrieve file remotely (not sure why you need to but if you don't unclick it, it doesn't seem to work) then it should work for you. For some reason this is the only way to get this to work for now.
Well, those 5in mounts sure look American, and rightly so, but beyond that, I think they're as likely to trick you as they are to help.
Good to see you back Tiornu. We recently had USCG Taney and she looks very similar, look at post #539 here http://www.ww2f.com/quiz-me/20938-name-naval-vessel-22.html not a DD as I see no torpedo tubes and that stern is not from a 30+ knots ship. There is a pic of her her after many refits but she did have 4 x 5" in full turrets at one time of her career and looking at the bottom pic a very similar paint scheme to the one shown. Historic Naval Ships Visitors Guide - USCGC Taney The new "basic uploader" takes a little time getting used to but it can upload pics from your disk, with my rig (IE8) the trick is to do it very slowly as IE will crash if you click in the file selection window before it had time to fully repaint and stabilize.
