It is indeed Taney. The swapability of the guns makes it tougher to ID her.

It looks Italian to me. But I'm from New Jersey, so everything looks Italian to me.

Trad class is good enough, she should be HTMS Cholburi or Chonburi (found both spellings and my book labels the pic Cionburi) one of the two that were sunk by the French at Koh Chang battle. But this site http://thaigunship.blogspot.com/search/label/HTMS%20Cholburi shows the same pic I have but with what looks like a number 11 that would make her Trad. IMO Cholburi carried the 11 during her trials when that pic was taken (she's still missing the center gun).

I hope you can see this. It's the best copy I have. Looking for the warship, of course, not the passenger ship.

That would appear to be Emden. And since she was a one off that eliminates the member of a class problem.

The Akizukis were among the best destroyers of the war.

Yep. Especially the best of Japan's. Served as a great AA destroyer (which I'm pretty sure is what it was designed for in the first place). And AFAIK, the Akizuki-class had the lowest ratio of losses in the Pacific of any Japanese destroyer (or warship, for that matter).

The Akizukis began as an AA design, though originally a cruiser project. (The Tenryus were planned for AA conversion until the Akizuki idea began and got all the attention.)

Well, that didn't take long. Indeed, Harutsuki she is. Not only one of the best destroyer classes of the war, but one of the most attractive, I would say. All you mikebatzel.

I'm pretty confident in my answer, so I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling again.
