If these two commanders met in battle, who would have won. I realize that Patton beat Rommel in battle, and because Patton is from the USA he is a hands down pick to win. Your thoughts, as this is just my opinion.
So Because Patton is from the U.S. he is hands down favored to win? Did I understand you correctly? Also whatever happen to Rommel being the best?
Yes. Patton is the best of WWII. I still think Rommel is awesome, but he's not American, and also Patton is just TOO good. Patton is 1 and Rommel is 2. I don't think that Von Manstein was that good. He might have been good. But he would have been slaughtered if he had gone against Patton. Also if anyone says Zhukov is any good, then they really should do some research. PATTON IS THE BEST!
They never met in battle. Rommel had returned to Germany before Patton took command of US forces in North Africa, and Rommel was wounded before Patton took command of 3rd Army in Normandy
Oh please, thats just irrelevant mumble jumble, who cares if they never faced off! Patton would still beat Rommel because he's just "TOO GOOD".
If there was anyone who should take their own advice... A good number of authors agree with your position on Patton, but they tend to support their arguments with historical research rather than his being an American. I'm all for your nationalistic enthusiasm, I hold the U.S. of A. in the same high regard as you, but it would be nice couple this with equal enthusiasm for supporting your beliefs with research. Maybe you could ask your teacher for some reference material in this area?
Yes, the 88 shells would bounce off old Blood & Guts's shiny helmet an' prob'ly land among the evil Germans, because he is an AMERICAN, and the fittest and strongest general, an' prob'ly really good at basketball too an' stuff! Rommel woz cool but he is a Nazi and nowhere near as nice as Patton who liked to slap shell-shocked soldiers about because they deserved it and he wasn't even slightly mad or overrated or anything because he is AMERICAN. I saw Rommel in a fight with Patton it was in a picture Rommel tried using his limited strategic appreciation combined with an arch mind for tactics and disregard for subordinates opinions but he could not beat that old Patton 'cos he was the BEST and not at all mad or anything. What a strangely pleasing thread. Thanks obsessive, Ignore us nasty old cynics, you'll get there. Cheers, Adam.
