What a great aircraft ! It seems a shame it got shelved and you had to settle for some used F-101's .

I wish I knew more about the politics that went on about this plane. I saw the movie but it let me believe that there was more going on behind the scenes.
I also read the Russians had spies in the program.

My own personal feelings is someone got payed off to not produce the aircraft.
During this period Lockheed bribed alot of Europeans to use the F-104.

Augh makes me mad how politics some how sneaks into the Military. I bet if those were apart of the Canadian Airforce our reputation as aviators, and aviation builders would of been great. Public support (this is all perhaps) would maybe increased and the Canadian Armed Forces would perhaps think of designing more home blueprints and we could be more innovative in the field of aviation.

See I'm quite glad politics gets involved in British aircraft construction, look what happens when it doesn't:

To be honest the TSR 2 had more than a few issues as well, even if it was pretty.

    We did get this though

Just watch the take off on this bad boy:

Bet even your beauty couldn't do that Lippert ;)

You can't fly them over here because of some problems with the electrics. Frankly if I was the pilot on that 'fast taxi' I would say 'hang it' and get her into the air!

    That's a new desk-top background for you:

The Lightning is no doubt a beautiful aircraft.

In response to your question, no I can't go that high and that fast :)

But, the Harrier happens to be the fastest accelerating aircraft in our inventory (even when compared to the birds with burners). On a short takeoff with a low transition you can reach 400 knots by the end of the 6000 foot runway. High altitude performance isn't quite what one would wish for, but we're primarily a ground attack asset, so we don't complain too much :)

    Nice background.

I happen to like the F-117 Nighthawk. The odd shape is perfect, and the black color is amazing.

I like the F-22, because the F-22 has a feminine look. Like a Ferrari.

The B-52 is also cool, but for other reasons (it isn't cute) and that aircraft will be in service for the next 50 years.

For me, it's that Avro Vulcan. I remember as a kid watching "Thuderball" multiple times on ABC, and in comparison to the B-52, that the Vulcan was more beautiful. Much more beautiful. I was actually jealous of the British for having that sexy beast compared to the Big Ugly Fella.

    Oohhhh,,, tough question.

    MiG-29 "Fulcrum"

    Su-27 "Flanker"

I know I know I know... I am prejudiced towards our Russian comrades.

Plus the Su-27 I found is a great example of the Ukrainian Air Force's flying colors!
