A decline in the general European and world economy had started before the Great War/WWI, and made the economic problems inevitable. I am guessing economic and political problems would have led to new European wars in the 1940s or 1950s.

Not quite sure which bits of land 'England' took but....

The French were indeed harsh in their attitude, but What If ? the Germans had not economically stripped the occupied zone of France as they did in 1917 ? Then the Treaty of Versailles may not have been quite so 'unfair' and Germany would have had to find another excuse to attempt World domination.....

England may not got land but surely profited from the realignment of Europe. I don't agree with Germany's actions, but the way Germany was treated was very harsh any country would have wanted revenge.Just Hitler was their answer and not the old guard of Germany. The Omega

I agree. If, say, France was punished as Germany was, they would have wanted revenge.
Although you could say the treaty of Versailles was Frances revenge for 1870 and 1914-18.

The German colonies, man, the colonies.....!

The German colonies were distributed in 1919 as follows: German East Africa (Britain); German South West Africa (Britain); Cameroon (Britain and France); Togoland (Britain and France); German New Guinea— comprising Kaiser Wilhelm's land, Bismarck Archipelago, German Solomon Islands, Nauru —(Britain); Marianne Islands, Caroline Islands, Marshall Island, Pelew Island (Japan).

Reminds me of the Blackadder Episode, When Lt George explains to Baldrick that WW1 Started 'Because of the vile Boche and his beastly Empire building':

    Blackadder explains everything!

Exactly my point - that sausage factory can hardly be considered as 'thinking of nothing but profit'.

What if-1. Hitler was admitted to the art academy?
    2. Hitler was killed or severely injured in ww1.
    3. Hitler had received a very long prison term or executed for the Beer Hall putsch.
    4. There was no great depression and the Weimar government succeeded.
    5. The germans made good allies in Ukraine, etc and Stalin was overthrown, and a treaty was signed.
    6. Frogs had wings and pigs could fly.
For just 2 letters, IF, is a mighty big word.

A treaty is only as good as the players who signed it! And the countries that enforce its will!!

An ambivilent Europe turning to a blind eye to Germanies illiegal bulild up of weapons and troops was one thing. But When Chamberlain placated Hitler's demand for the Sudentland it gave the little Corporal the feel of untouchablilty and was the catalyst to Sept 1, 1939.

Hitler was a spiteful person and was going to have his war one way or another, sooner or later and was doomed to lose. He got his war and his idiotic ideas lost it.

What section is this? "What If" In this section pigs can fly. In "What if" Hitler could have ran for Congress and drink Pepsi. So lets get rid of the section or play along. We all know Germany couldn't have won with the over powering might or Russia. And America's great supply of parts and planes. But What If

Heh, then every thing would have been a bit stupider If Hitler did drink Pepsi, and he might have over powered Russia If he had help but still. He wouldn't steal our planes, or would he. What if...?

What if Hitler's missing testicle was his left one instead of the right one?

There is always the next meal, but yes I think that they would go under.

On a more serious note; Nations have four choices, 1) at the end of a war the looser is obliterated in name and identity and eventually people rise up to destyroy the destroyer, this is what has happened for the better part of Histroy. 2) Heavy burderdens can be placed on the looser which tend to lead toward the effect of the first choice. 3) Everyone can become govered by one government. and 4) everyone needs to agree to disagree and understand that what must be taken by force is not worth having.
