I suspect most know the name of this vehicle. What is it and what made this model different from the standard model produced earlier in the war?

It was the original "Hybrid" could be powered by either wood/Steam or gasoline. I think there were even some that had the option for Natural Gas or Propane.

"Three Marines and their machine gun put a nest of Japanese snipers out of business. The fox hole was about 100 yards off the Guam beach. The Marines, left to right: Gunnery Sergeant J. Paget, Privates L.C. Whether and V.A. Sot (?) July 28, 1944."

Do you mean aside from it appearing to be a woman in a German uniform or that it had been passed off as being Eva Braun?

Not aware of it ever being passed off as Eva Braun but otherwise you're on the right track!
